The Taris Event Chapter 2
[OOC: I think Cuspar and Eli should check out the podraces to try and pick up a lead there.]
Eli, let's check out the podraces. Unsavory types to podraces are like mynocks to power cables. Maybe we can pick up some leads there...

Re: The Taris Event Chapter 2
The theater is currently closed and locked. You can get general ticketing information and theater map downloaded to your datapad, but it doesn't include the backstage area. The theater has two main seating areas the floor seats and the balcony. There are also 4 "box seats" elevated along each side of theater which are reserved for season ticket holders of a certain level. Ra'Wen is in the names of the current production of Rodian Dreasm, Bothan Schemes on the downloadable playbill. She plays the rodian's romantic interest, but based on the plot summary it sounds liek a supporting role and not the main focus of the show. The main actors in the so are Quello (rodian), Baalta Hoyha (Bothan), a human name Maria Pinill and another human name Dean Lor'tak.Whiteness wrote:Syric enters the theater to essentially 'scope out the joint' so he is familiar with the layout. He intends to walk through the lobby, keeping his eyes open for any show listing that includes Ra'Wen. He is also looking for alternative exits/entrances and enters the main seating area taking care to notice any balcony or VIP seating. If no show is currently playing he tries to sneak behind stage, looking for dressing rooms, wardrobe storage, other common rooms and any back doors. He keeps his eyes open for the goons watching Ra'Wen, and if he sees them will try to avoid them.
Once he is satisfied he looks for any actors, once again taking care to notice and avoid any goons, to ask for details about the cast of the main show such as new talent, rising stars and other general information so as not to arouse suspicion. He is interested in hearing the names of a couple actresses and actors for future use.

Syric definitely wants a better look inside and contemplates breaking in, but decides that now is not the best time. He looks to see what times the theater is open before trying to find a way around the building to the rear, intent on locating any other entrance.
Once he is done he proceeds to a tailor to purchase clothes fitting for a night at the theater. Running his hand over his jaw he makes a mental note to pick up a shaving kit. He is not looking forward to losing his beard, but he realizes he may need to change his appearance in the near future and a bare chin could help that.

Sounds like a plan. We should find out what other sports betting options there are on the planet as well, because it's not just podracing, but gambling in general that draws out the crooks. And I had a hard time believing that Kunga's majordomo ONLY comes out to play with his mistress. He's got to be out now and then checking in on the lieutenants, so if we can get an idea when he does that we might have a better chance at having a...discussion with him in one of those venues.Cuspar wrote:[OOC: I think Cuspar and Eli should check out the podraces to try and pick up a lead there.]

We're going to do the 50/25/25 split of money, with Arillius' share going into the corporate funds (a sort-of-escrow). Sorry, I thought I had stated that's what we were doing.

"Checking out Kunga's place may not be a bad idea. Do you have any binocs? If not, we should pick up a pair before heading that way. Incidentally, do you know where Kunga's place is?
If Bulwark has macrobinoculars we go to Kunga's.
If not, we go to town and pick up some macrobinocs and then head to Kunga's.
If we don't know where Kunga's is, we catch Syric on the commlink and ask him.

Addendum: I'd actually like to get an idea of the area we're heading toward before we get to Kunga's. Please don't FF to "OK, you're at Kunga's and you are picked up by 3 Gammorean guards." I believe Bulwark and I are going to try to scout things out from a distance, get the lay of the land, etc.

There are exits on the back two corners of the building facing the alley. And the main entrance up front. You find a tailor shop pretty quickly. As you walk in you are greeted by a Duros wearing a big smile.Whiteness wrote:Syric definitely wants a better look inside and contemplates breaking in, but decides that now is not the best time. Walking out and about town you quickly find that there are two main racing courses. The Aerotech Swoop Arena and the Yattaka Landspeeder Rally. In addition to racing there is a Parsec Casino. Other sports that people typically wager on are prizefights for Major Professional and Premiere Pit fighting, there are also a few team sports involving a large field of grass, a ball and about 20-26 men divided in teams trying to get from one side to the other.

@ Bulwark and Dood
The two of you head off to buy a pair of electrobinoculars and in the shop you hear the shopkeeper and one of his customers talking about Kunga's fortress outside the city. They talk about how they used to like to hunt up that way, but now his guards are kicking out all the hunters so you have to go way out of your way for game hunting not too far from the city.
You two make your way in the direction they were talking about and it isn't terribly hard to figure out approximately where his villa/fortress is. Nestled up on the outskirts of town you are able to see the house, but you don't think it is terribly wise to get much closer given droids and henchmen patrolling the woods around it in packs of 3 and 4. The villa itself has a wall with a few patrolling armed guards walking back and forth. The main gate has some barricades up and transports visiting are thoroughly inspected, but the drivers seem to have a good rapport with the guards like they are co-workers or something.

Re: The Taris Event Chapter 2
The Yattaka Rally is closer to the Kunga compound. The larger Aerotech complex is further away, but is a much bigger deal. And they have afternoon races daily (think like a horse track), but the premiere races are on weekend nights. The landspeeder rally is just on weekends. (Today is tuesday). Big fights coming up are housed in the sports complex adjacent to the ParSec Casino. The next big name fight is in two weeks it is for the middleweight division title. As for non big name fights they have the major professional bouts on fridays and saturdays.Furiel wrote:Which one is closer to Kunga's compound?Blackferne wrote:@ Eli and Cuspar aka Team Fightin' Fish!Furiel wrote:Sounds like a plan. Eli, let's check out Aerotech first. If there's no really at Yattaka until the weekend, we're not likely to find much out. And if there's afternoon races at Aerotech, we should be able to get a sense of whether or not it's worth further investigation.

Definately, here's what I'm thinking. Assuming there are a series of races over a span of a few hours we can spend the first hour or so just listening and observing for mentions of Kunga, for non-official/authorized persons going into restricted areas like the betting areas or the pit area, or any patterns during the races where maybe a particular authorized person is interacting with the crews or racers themselves before or during the races and that racer may have had a lead, or was a favorite then ends up losing.Cuspar wrote:Eli, let's check out Aerotech first. We can split up the room with one of us on each side but stay in visual contact of each other, but not right by each other either so we can canvas more area, overhear more and different conversations and get different angles of observation, but still close enough to have each other's backs on the insanely unlikely event we find trouble. After several races we'll get together and share our observations. Sound good?

He laughs. "Sure thing. Let me get your measurements here." He takes his tape and measures you around, up and down. "100cr for a Corellian collard single breasted in dark gray. I'll use standard wool. And it should be ready in 2 days. I need to take it to the back and start shearing some bolts and what not. You can pick up a shaving kit down the street.
