You can make a thievery roll (though if you wait and make it when you are closer the DC will decrease).

The cauldron is bubbling so it is liquid, green, and presumably hot. At minimum you suspect he might have a slight burn if dropped, you are unable to tell if there are acidic or magical properties of the cauldron at this distance.

Tony will just double move then and we'll worry about situation assessment when I get a bit closer.

The line with the stairs, is that overlap or are the stairs 2 squares wide?

After the first hit, Syric would invoke his armor's daily power: Immediate interrupt, trigger: an enemy hits you, effect: you teleport 5 squares.

Syric took the other hit last time (5) and then this first one (8) to put me at 40HP.

He then follows Victae with a double move.

Trinal took 8 points of damage thanks to the 7 temp HPs (thank you!)

Trinal shifts one square to get allies out of the blast and casts Thunder Leap.

Starting at the square marked X: Attacking 82, 84 and 85 with d20+11 vs fort:

82: 18+11=29
84: 17+11=28
85: 3+11=14

Flying through the air, he lands behind the group on the left (the square marked Y), attacking 16, 25 and 61 with a blast of thunder (d20+11 vs fort)

61: 1+11=12 (crit fail roll: 59%)

Every day I'm smuggling... or continuing to sneak with a double move up the stairs and along the ledge.

Do I still need to get closer to get a really good look and figure out the ropes and how dangerous the cauldron is or do I still need to get closer?

Stage is probably 4 ft high.

You can probably figure out which rope Thievery DC 18. Cauldron looks particularly nasty from this angle. You probably shouldn't allow him to go in.
