Re: Minecraft Server Thread
The server is back up!
Here's the deal:
* Minecraft 1.8
* Difficulty=NORMAL (it used to be EASY).
* Mob griefing is ON (creepers blow stuff up, watch yerself)
* No plugins (vanilla only). Start building tracks!
* Whitelisted. If you can't get on, hit me up, but I think I got everyone who was still playing.
Bulwark's Funland and Cuspar's Fallingwater house are imported into an island just off the coast about 600 blocks from spawn. The coordinates for the near edge:
X 677
Y -645
I hope this is a nice reboot for everyone and that we enjoy the new challenge with 1.8. I'll make the old server's data files and the Bukkit jar file available for download if anyone wants them. ALso, if anyone has a structure or something they really want ported over, let me know and I'll see what can be done.
ENJOY! And thank you for playing on the server, it's a lot of fun to hang with you crazy people.

Guess I need to start crafting some stained glass....oi.
I haven't had much time at the computer as of late, but I will make the effort. I really want to try 1.8

The server is awesome. 1.8 is very cool. Thanks Jimer.
I have created a sheep pen with Sheep and chickens in it. Please help you self to them if you need it. There is a bit of wheat and seed in the chest beside the pen for breeding. The sheep now eat grass so I am assuming that the pens need to be a good size and no more over crowding.
I think were we have located is a good spot for the town to start with were we have set up our houses. Do you guys want to set up a farming collective, instead of us each having herds, we all share one large heard.
On a game glitch note, I when I came back to my sheep pen after doing a mining run, all the sheep except one were missing but I could hear them. I exited the game and came back in and they were all back.

Oh come on, who let a creeper blow up my house and didn't bother fixing the wall?

Maizan, what's the coordinates of this place you're talking about for a city?

Re: Minecraft Server Thread
Mesa de Venganza shall live again!
We've started clearing a space for the future Mesa de Venganza, which is right next to a mesa, appropriately enough. We decided not to build in the mesa itself because of the difficulties with making a level and walled city, but it faces it and is right next to it. With such a plethora of sand and stained clay, I expect it will be very colorful.
I've created a "construction corral" next to my temporary hut on the borders of what will be the town. (find it at X:170 Y:-160) I'm adding to it as I can, but it's basically for storage and crafting of materials for the town, from torches to doors or whatever else you need. I'm putting in hopper-fed furnaces and chests, so you can automate whatever you're looking to build. There's multiple floors (or will be) of storage for all types of basic materials, like stone, granite, andesite and diorite, wood and wood-related materials- you get the point.
Feel free to come by and add what you can to the supply, and pitch a tent (har har) nearby to get started on building the city. I'm clearing woods and will put up a grid of torches to mark where we're looking to build and then maybe start laying out some paths and plots.

Joun, when you reorg the forums, can we get a Minecraft subforum?

Update: Bulwark, Indigo and myself have been working on laying out the basics of Mesa de Venganza. There's a partially completed perimeter wall and we're clearing the interior for building. When I have enough redstone and other materials I'll work on automatic streetlights.

Each streetlight requires a block of redstone plus the amount for the sensor, so a decent amount. If you have some I'll buy it from ya.

OK, the first automated city gate is up and running. It's the one in the southwest corner, near the construction corral and facing the pond. It opens at dawn, closes at dusk and there's buttons on either side you can press to open it briefly at night.

Maizan, I'll work on extending the city walls to include your house. I didn't see it over there when we were putting up the walls.

Streets and Streetlights!
Ya'll may have noticed we has streets. And I'm adding an updated and much snazzier version of my streetlights to the mix.
Here's how the streets are working: They're made of Polished Diorite, 3 across, with 1-block wide gravel shoulders. I'm trying to keep them relatively straight, but they may have to curve around some objects. Thank you to Bulwark for moving the Nether portal- I originally went around it, but it looked terrible (however, I didn't want to go mucking around with his builds).
I will need a lot of glowstone and redstone for streetlighs. So if you visit the nether, get glowstone if you can and bring it to the construction corral. It's appreciated! Don't make it a special priority but if you're there and it's around, grab some for me.
I'm going to be tearing down my little hut soon and building a proper place on the other side of town. That area in the southwest corner is currently where the construction corral is, but once we're a bit better off in terms of the city's build, we can probably level it and put in some kind of monument or something (a giant statue of Alvis?)

I have extended the city walls around an area to the NW where I will be building. It will go to the water and a pier or dock will be in the future, some kind of secure water access point.Bulwark wrote:Maizan, I'll work on extending the city walls to include your house. Re: Minecraft Server Thread
I have a 3 story wooden shanty in town next to a wheat farm. Thanks to whomever put the wooden walkway over the water. I would have never thought to do that. On the outside of wooden shanty is a food box. If you need food take a couple loafs. If you harvest the wheat please replant and put spare seeds in the box.
Long term I'll be building a farm that has press button harvesting possibly out of town and replacing my shanty with a tower.

I've placed 2 blue banners and a sign next to my shanty. That is where I would like to build my tower barring objection from city planners. Also do we have a depot for donating granite and materials for the city wall?

The "Construction Corral" on the southwest corner of the city has storage for stuff used to build the city, feel free to drop your stuff off there.
