Once the cargo is in place, Dood wanders to the cockpit to begin some pre-flight checks and radios (commlinks? IM's?) Syric.

"Cargo's on-board and I"m starting the checks on the flight systems. Let me know when you're back on board. The Cerean seems to have wandered off but I'd like to get going as soon as he's back."

Dood goes back to h is checks. [ooc]If I have time to take 20, I do that. Otherwise I'll roll for all[/ooc]

Since you have the time and are not being shot at and have recent astronav info in your nav computer would you like to double check your computer work as is allowed per page 237 of the core rule book?

Well, I'm using a NavComputer, yes? So that's an additional +5.

Either way a DC 10 so you should be fine now that you aren't in critical failure land. It would have sucked if you guys got this far only to kill those innocent dewbacks by flying into a black hole or pop out in the middle of a star. That would leave you all having to reroll and have wailer find you and recruit you to the cause.

So Leet finally gets through with his in depth examination of the computers systems. Unfortunately with his ability to speak Binary he can compute things very quickly, but he did a full diagnostic of the ship.
Use Computer - Taking 20 (since I can't really screw up a diagnostic I think) + 16 = 36
So also decides he wants help with this, since none of the other crew members have stepped up to help with the handling of the computers he heads over to Czerka's.
"I need a couple of droids. I need a Merendata S6 security droid used preferably, as well as a medical droid. I also see that there's no haggling on pricing so I won't even bother. I'm just hoping you have what I need. And they're not horribly overpriced."

"Oh hi." The drone teenager says. "4300cr for a med droid, and a used Merendata S6 security droid is another 1800cr. So you are looking at 6100cr combined. anything else?"

"Nope, thanks that'll do it."
Heads over to Buddo's (no relation to Buppo's) General Goods store.
So Leet says to the clerk"I need to get a surgery kit, 5 medpacs, 2 field kits, portable computer, 3 fire extinguishers, 1 medical kit, a computer interface visor, and a stealth field generator."

So Leet pays Czerka 6100 credits and gets two droids. Your balance is now 12,947.

"Oh well look slike you are starting a hospital sir!"
The clerk laughs. "Let's see what we got here. Surgery Kit 1,000cr, 5 medpacs at 100cr each make 1500cr so far. Add in two field kits at 1,000cr a piece and now you are at 3,500cr. Portable computer that's a whopping 5,000cr bringing you up to 8,500cr. Three fire extinguishers at 50cr a piece brings that to 8,650cr. One Medical kit at 600cr that is 9,250cr. A computer Interface Visor at 1200cr brings you up to 10,450cr. And finally a stealth field generator at 5,000cr brings your total to 15,450cr. Will that be all?"

I think that kid was messing with me the whole time Taking a large swig from a flask, Syric heads to the nearest parts store to pick up a vocabulator for 50 credits.

Once he reaches the shipyard he calls Dood on his commlink, "Dood, I'm back and I picked up a utility droid. If you don't need anything I'm going to try and install some hardware in it."

Walking up the exit ramp his ears and nose are assaulted by the noise and smell of 18 dewbaks, the smell surprisingly being the lesser of the two evils. He then enters the main hold with the droid in tow.

"I apologize, I misread the order for the ship, I don't need the 2 field kits, that's something I'll be picking up on arrival. I was hoping that based on an order this size you'd be willing to give me a discount, nothing too horribly outlandish, 5-10%, you'd still be making over 10k credits from this one transaction. I think that would be a fair request."
Persuasion +4 if you wouldn't mind rolling it for me Mr. GM.

1d20+4=12+4=16.

"Well dropping the field kits gets you to 13,450cr. And you are wanting a 5-10% discount to boot?" He grimaces. "I don't know. My margins are already really thin as it is with Czerka Corp down the street putting the hurt on mom and pop shops like me already. I tell you they are the worst. It is a shame too. In the Republic Army we fought to keep Czerka factories from being shelled by the Sith too. And now I find them to be killing me slowly with this damn price squeeze. You didn't serve in the Army did you?"

"As a matter of fact I did, I was with the 13th Technical Regiment. We were integral in the battle of The Battle Of Bothawui. We helped disable the equipment that allowed the 1st Light Infantry to land. But that's well past. I'll make ya a deal, brother. From here forward any equipment of this type I need I'll purchase from you. I am starting a new enterprise and currently represent a group, Aderbrent's our name. *Show letter from CFO.* We're running some cargo now but plan to do some more work in and out of this region, so I'm sure I can make it up to you in future transactions."

"Well, I guess I'll skip the personal shield generator, it was a personal purchase to protect me, I wasn't much in combat, but I'm great with the tech, and I know with the work we're doing there may be some hostility so I was hoping to give myself a little more protection, but I can understand profit margins being tight. So if you could just deduct that I'll take the rest and hope I get to do more business with you in the future, with my life in tact."

The Taris Event Chapter 2

Post by Reese » Thu Mar 17, 2011 3:38 am

As Klak wanders the ship he performs a soft sweep for any items that don't belong. He feels that making a casino boss angry and buying two ships to get off world from a character who may gave exchange ties at least warrants a look around.

Perception: (1d20)+7:13,+7 Total:20

He also points out that as a member of the crew with Medical training (+7 heal) from the military he would probably perform the duties of ships doctor. But notes "I'm not staying totally sober so try not to get hurt for Alvis sake"
This... I Command!

"My budget is 11k total, I will have some additional beyond that but that's the budget for gear, I do admit that I could get rid of something more mundane, but again, I'm just trying to save my ass."

I'm not necessarily lying, because I've got a little bit more than that, but I really don't want to blow it all on gear and droids for the ship and the general consumption of the rest of the group, and I do want to have some seed money in case I find a casino not run by Parsec gaming. lol
But my deception is +9 in case you think it's pertinent.

"Well you are sitting at 13450 worth of merchandise and 11k is"
He taps some buttons on his datapad "82% of that, so if I give that to you that isn't 5-10% discount, that is like 18% discount. 5% off is 12,777.50 and ten is 12,105. So I'm kinda at a loss. I mean Let's think this out, you are buying lots of medical equipment, and you also have 6,200 in computer gear and accessories. Is that stuff really necessary?"

"Like I said, I'll drop the shield generator. I do apologize, I don't mean to be short, I just need to run a few more errands." Offers up the amount of credits to purchase everything, including the two field kits now minus the shield generator. That will put my cost at 10,450. It will include the total list minus the PSG. I gather my purchases and tell the shop keeper,"Don't think this changes my offer, I completely understand how business works. I do hope to see you in the future to do more business with you."
I start heading out and indicate that the two droids I purchased follow me to the ship.
Once at the ship I program the two droids to understand Cerean as well as Basic and Binary. I command the S6 to start scouring the ship for anything out of the ordinary on a ship of this nature including addons or shortages of the normal blue prints of this model and serial number ship. I send the medical droid to the med bay and take the medical gear there.
Who the hell would put all this whiskey in here?
Then I go up to the bridge and check over the controls using the same types of rolls our esteemed Dood had used.
Assuming 20's can be taken -
Perception: 29
Mechanics: 31
Not checking pilot because I don't plan to fly this thing.
Use Computer:36

Dood watches So Leet recheck everything he's already done for the day with a scowl on his face, muttering to himself about "cranial mutants" needing to "stay in the commcenter and out the flight deck."

When So Leet turns to look at him, he simply turns and walks down the hall, his fur obviously bushy around his neck. He goes to find Klak and asks to speak to him in private.

Once out of earshot of others, Dood asks Klak to keep an eye on So and let him know if he sees the Cerean spending time in the cockpit or speaking ill of Dood.

As he claps Klak on the back he says, "We are very fortunate to have a veteran such as yourself with us. It's good to have people we can all trust with us."

Dood then wanders off to find Syric and work out a flight plan and the shifts for the next few days.
