Spider Farm up and running

Post by Maizan » Wed Jun 17, 2015 2:21 pm

In my dungeons under my village I found a spider spawner. I setup an xp/string/eye farm that is working. String can be sold to fisherman and fletchers for gems. Eyes for brewing. Occasionally a skeleton riding a spider will spawn. /joy. There are chests there with stone swords and soon damage potions. Collect everything and what ever you do not want place in the double chests in the sorting room (there are 2).

I am working on setup by my Brew factory as will have damage potions there and at my zombie farm for easier killing.

Signs will be up shortly, but go into the basement under the village (my sorting room) and down the back tunnel, then down the ladder. Just before the bottom (level 20) is a walkway to the spawner. Stand on the glass in front of the catcher seems to trigger the spawner better then in the killing block.

Enjoy,

Maizan

Very nice, thank you!

If you wanted an auto farm instead of an XP farm you can put cactus around the spawner with water flowing into a hopper-chest. Spiders love to climb, even if it is up the side of a cactus that hurts them.

I thought about auto farming, but I would still have to be there for the spawned to work, so I thought I would make myself useful. And if I get really bored, I remove the blocks from the top of the pistons. Crushed spiders will pop out of the sides - usually the left one. :)
