Mesa de Venganza Transit

I've started a subway system using the mineshafts under the city. It's pretty fully automated. Right now there's stations at City Hall, in the basement of my tower and a link to a farming area I set up outside of town. I'll be happy to add more stations to other parts of town or other destinations.

Here's how it works: The stations mostly have a dispenser. Push the button on the dispenser to pop out a minecart. Get in and push the other button to start your trip.

The minecart will take you to the main station. Once it arrives, you'll be kicked out of the minecart and it will be collected for reuse. On the station wall are buttons for your destinations. Choose your destination by clicking its button. The torch above will light up, and a minecart will appear on the opposite wall, ready to board.

Board the minecart, press the button and you're off. At the other end, you may have to manually place a minecart, as I'm still working on getting stations set up. If there's more distant destinations like villages we can connect to, let me know so we can start a rail system to them.

Enjoy!

Update to Mesa de Venganza Transit!

Two new destinations are now available from the transit hub. Zombie XP Grinder and Southwest Village. The XP grinder track takes you to the XP grinder, as you might guess.

The Southwest Village track is UNDER CONSTRUCTION and is not yet finished. It currently ends somewhere out in the middle of nowhere. I'm going to need a lot of gold for powered rails, and a decent amount of iron for regular rails. If you have any extra, let me know!

Another Update!

The track to the Southwest Village is complete! Board it at the central hub in the mines. NOTE: The ride is LONG (about five minutes or so) and is NOT safe at night. Take it during the daytime only! If you ride it at night and a creeper blows up the track, you're gonna fix it. :)

Lots of good trading opportunities in the village. Try not to get the villagers killed. ;) Also, we need a name for it other than "Southwest Village".

I will probably add some substations to the system, additional hubs like the one in the mines. The first will likely be on the long SW Village line and offer a connection to the spawn area. I'll also be fortifiying the tracks with barricades to keep out mobs and light to stop spawning inside the track area. More to come on that.

The "Outskirts Farm" track goes north, but only a few hundred blocks. I have a little farm and shack out there. I'm planning a larger-scale farm at some point. Is there something you want to take a line to up north?

Well, nothing wrong with putting a line and substation out that way. Long term I'm envisioning a wide transport system using hub and spoke methods, at least loosely. Like the long one to the village in the SW, I plan to add a station somewhere near spawn. The line will go there, you'll hop out and choose your next destination and go. As we find new points of interest and resources (like a jungle?) we can add new lines and stations.

The big constraint will be iron and gold for the rails.

That's kind of what I was thinking. I can't remember how far out I tunneled, but I think it is a decent spot for a northern hub.

Do we have anything east? I'd like to make an overworld connection to funland.

Also, Whitey, did you add all those new wall sections? That's awesome.

Nothing to the east as of yet. I'd like to make an overland connection there too. How far is it again?

Yeah I expanded the northern town wall from my place east to the river and back down to jimer's and then extended the southern wall by maizen's up to the cacti wall I think.

I haven't made any gateways yet since monsters still spawn in the north part

I started adding torches to the northern expansion. Still a ways to go until it is covered. I also smoothed out some of the terrain to make it easier to build on.

Another Update!

I've added fences and torches to the entire route to the SW village, as well as enclosing the village itself in a wall and putting torches all over it. You should be able to travel to the village any time of day or night in relative safety. Keep in mind that skeletons will probably take potshots at you, and if you stop a creeper could get close enough on the other side of the wall to detonate, so use caution when traveling at night.

Enjoy! More to come as I have time.
