First off use the ruleset in the link I gave you via PM.
Second use the attributes I gave you for character creation and apply them as you see fit onto this character sheet. http://home.comcast.net/~pawnnolonger/M ... S_2.0b.pdf email your completed character sheet to blackferne (at) thechurchofalvis dot com by sunday Feb 20th. If I don't have your character sheet by then you will not be there for the first chapter but I might be able to include you later.
Third for money and equipment. At the end of your class there is a note about how to calculate your starting money. Whatever that is max that out. And that is your budget for starting equipment. Prices are as listed in the books.
Fourth for RP purposes we are playing in the era immediately after the game KOTOR 1 took place. This is several thousand years before Luke blew up the death star. The gist of political set up is there is a hot and cold war going on between the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic. We are also assuming that Jounville Blackferne is the leader of a really small religious group called The Church of Alvis. Players in our game here are not expected to necessarily be members. Arillius Blackferne (Joun's dad) for example is not. He is typically agnostic in regards to faith. Your character is assumed to have at some point been on friendly enough terms with Jounville that you were contacted by his father in that you might help in finding him. For basic background on Joun: He was raised by his father Arillius on board the ship the Blue Nova. His mother was pretty much out of the picture growing up, but she did pop in from time to time. At around 17-18ish Joun left Arillius to join the Galactic Republic Army where he was a soldier (his class is soldier in game terms). After a couple years of service he left the army and bounced around doing different things for different people. He built up connections and relationships with people on both sides of the sith/republic divide and all through out the criminal underworld. You could know him from any of those walks of life. In the last 3-4 years he has been traveling spreading the word of Alvis and based his operations out of a small settlement on Lok.
Fifth Arillius is going to always be 2 levels higher than any of you and serves as my hand in the game. He will not always be with you guys, but serves as a way for me to pop in and out as needed for story elements etc etc.

PS when I say any of you know joun well enough, that does not include marriage or past romantic relationships. I reserve those aspects of his backstory for parts of the game.

great, now I have to rewrite my background. Oh look, you got a copy of the valentine I got from my likely soon-to-be-ex-wife.
Oh wait...I didn't get one from her, nevermind.

Nope I have not gotten yours yet. I even checked my spam folder. Make sure you send it to blackferne (at) thechurchofalvis (dot) com.Happyclam wrote:Did you not get mine?

And my goal today is to design you a droid servant. For RP purposes I'll control his dialog but you get free reign in combat situations....unless you get incapacitated in which case the fun starts.

Re: Character Setup Basics
Reminder I want a few paragraphs on who your character is, where he/she comes from, and how they know joun. There are three major "factions" in the current political climate the Galactic Republic, the Sith Empire, and the criminal element known as the Exchange. Of course you can also have smaller sub factions etc etc, but knowing where your guy came from will help me make the stories better.
And it is totally okay if you want to RP a common background with another player. For example Kit is a scoundrel and Dood is a scout. The two of them could have been running rigged Pazaak games on Tattooine together. If you want to work with another player for a shared history that would be fine.

Re: Character Setup Basics
Since I've had a few questions about Arillius and Jounville I figured I'd lay out their collective history so you guys can find out how you link in.
Arillius Blackferne was born in one the core worlds 55 years ago to a mechant who sold trade goods around. He sometimes travelled with his dad, but by all accounts had a nice normal growing up that anyone in the core worlds middle class could expect. When he was of age (approx 18) he joined the Galactic Republic's equivalent of the merchant marines. In war time they function as the branch of service responsible for transportation of supplies and logistical support to battle zones. They aren't really the "how to secure a beach head" kind of folks, but convoys and escorts they are very good at.
While in that service (peacetime no wars during his period of enlistment) he served under a captain who had a sordid set of relationships and connections. While on a port of call, the freighter he served on was blown up and the crew was rounded up and jailed or killed. All except Arillius who laid low in the immediate aftermath. During that period he was on society's edge living and working among the criminal element. He hit a fortunate turn in a series of events where the end result was a dead bounty hunter, a pissed off "partner" left stranded(but with his fair share of money), and Arillius with half a treasure which allowed him to buy his ship, and officially clear his name for suspicions relating to his old captain. That was about 30 years ago.
The next few years involved meeting Jounville's mother, a brief marriage, Jounville's birth, and the mom's leaving Arillius to raise Jounville on his own. That isn't to say Jounville didn't know his mother, because he did, but because of her life and Arillius' life he didn't see her often. Jounville was raised on Arillius' ship and was by all account a Scoundrel's brat. Arillius still worked both legit and questionable jobs, but illegal jobs with huge risk were generally not taken because of Jounville. Jounville's education during this period was part book learning from the ship's computers, part instruction from Arillius who is pretty smart, and real life experiences he had helping Arillius.
As Jounville hit his teenage years there was a natural instinct to be rebellious. How do you rebel when your dad is involved with various characters of suspect reputations? You join the Galactic Republic army. This would prove to be a mistake. The severe shift from the chaotic lifestyle he was raised under into the disciplined nature of the military didn't settle particularly well. After one tour he didn't re-enlist and spent the next 5-6 years bouncing around going from job to job, system to system. He came across the Alvian texts pretty early during this period and decided to live an Alvian lifestyle and spread the word. This irritated his father to no end since he saw it as an irresponsible use of alcohol. This wasn't out of some prohibition on alcohol Arillius wanted to impose, but rather Arillius' belief, forged by his life experiences, that alcohol is something that should be taken in moderation. Failure to maintain control in the right situation would result in your untimely demise. But Jounville was his son, so he still cared for Jounville and offered help when he needed it. Jounville did tours of the galaxy usually on a shoe string budget, but his base of operations was small settlement on Lok in the village of Mesa de Venganza. But he would often be out and about making friends or preaching the word to anyone who would listen regardless of whether they allied with the Republic, the empire or the Exchange.

Re: Character Setup Basics
Do the feats described on the chart on page 37 need to come from the feats listed on your class?
Re: Character Setup Basics
The feat you get at level 3 is completely your choice and you pick it from the main feat list, take anything you want as long as you meet the prerequisites. The only time you need to stick to the list in your class description is when you are getting a bonus feat.
