Trinal is around. He asks you what he can do for you.
"So Tony Plush's contact seems to have come through, but not in the way expected. He did not have any info on relics per say, however he did have a lead on the dreams Stavis had. Which Tony Plush finds particularly interesting since that subject never came up during our discussion. He mentioned perhaps a scryer basin would get us more info on that. He mentioned a legend called the Basin of Sal'somme. There is a merchant by the name of Zaheed who lives in the desert town of Mogujos who is apparently very knowledgeable about such things. Perhaps that is something we could look into."

Trinal's reaction can be summed up by this somewhat OOC gif:

"Obviously this is not something Tony Plush specializes in. Tony Plush wants to discuss this with Stavis obviously as well, however as you are the arcane expert among us do you believe this might be worth pursuing?"

"Absolutely. I'd be very interested in speaking with this Zaheed. How far away is Mogujos?"

He pauses for a moment. "I should also use the resources at the library I now have access to to find more information about this Basin of Sal'somme you mention. Great work, Tony. Thank you."

For reference

The desert city of Mogulos is about the same distance as the Ciradel by foot.

On the plus side it is not an active war zone depending on your route.

The down side is that it is in the middle of a huge Sahara like desert. That will take some time regardless of how your plan it just because the desrt is a trying environment. There are caravans which travel to there from the Free cities of Al Partha and Al Ashar, as well as the Elven trading town of Saerlorne.

"Hmm... perhaps we could travel to Sagemoor, take passage across the Inland Sea, and then from Al Partha find a caravan needing guards. No one would look twice at another scruffy bunch of thugs guarding a caravan into the desert.

If we wish to avoid Sagemoor, we could travel south and then east around the foothills to Al Partha, or cut across the desert directly to Mogulos. But that seems a dangerous and uncertain path.

"

Intelligence says that the Chulassa occupy from the green sea to the mountains separating Waterdeep from Sagemoor. They cover the northern coast of the inland sea (Sagemoor and Thua Alora). So going through that territory to Sagemoor and then securing a boat to cross the sea to one of the Als would have certain risks.

OOC: Are there any passes or roads in the southern area of the mountain range to the east of Waterdeep? Some way through that comes out near Al Partha, or is the only option the long southern walk around the mountain range?

The dotted lines indicate approximate "nation" borders. I reused colors so don't assume all red dotted lines are aligned in some way. Gaps between borders are generally unincorporated area or independent city states (see the free cities of the desrt of the rather large gap from the Citadel at Aren Bruth to silverdeep in the dense northern mountains. The Cine Empire is half conquered and the unconquered part is quasi vassal state at the moment (think vichy france).

To asnwer Jimer's question there are plenty of tiny passes and roads meandering through the southern mountains, but the state of repair is hit or miss as teh incentive to build proper ones is usually discouraged given the huge desert on the other side. If you were to follow the river up the mountains you could probably find the old road leading to Sagemoore, but you'd probably expect the road's exit into the forrests and plain area to be patrolled to some degree.

"Seems that we would be safest going south and trying to cross to Al Partha, then take a caravan south, maybe posing as guards. we could avoid enemy territory that way and our time alone in the desert would be minimal. We could even go east to the Inland Sea north of the desert, skirt it until we get to the water and find a town or village on the coast of the sea and take a boat or raft to Al Partha from there. There must be a ton of tiny fishing villages and so forth along the west coast of the Inland Sea."

@Stavis

As you leave the professor's "I'll be sure to get Sadie on task for the Silverdeep gate, and don't worry, we'll make sure the severity of the risk is known to the gate keeper." He pauses and has a look of grave concern, "You need to be careful. With the forces in play, people have become complacent to Drow incursions into the land. Vigilance for that threat has waned obviously. We're all fighting forces of grave evil, and the Drow have more freedom than they've had in centuries as a result. You need to let the rest of the guard known. Your brother's ambitions are a real wild card. If what you say is true, your importance is like that of the skeleton in teh closet that must be properly buried. Given his reputation, it would be irresponsible to let the other's not know they are in danger."

Stavis will turn back to the Professor with the mask on cocking head slightly in a clear indication of some confusion "You mean the danger that has ever been present with me being in the group, I thought that was why most town don't like surface Drow as even if they aren't a problem they tend to bring the ire of Drow that would."

"My brother may well bring to bare forces against us but would probably be more pissed, likely kill the force sent, should I actually fall to such forces as I imagine he feels slighted by my not facing him. Though a presumption, I can't help feeling at least part of his drive is from seeing him my not facing him in combat was akin to me not seeing him as a worthy enough challenger." He will look downcast a bit "It wouldn't be the first time for such an event."

He will look back up "When he wants that corrected he will come in person, which I am certain he will be more interested in me than anything else so as long as I go with him. It shouldn't be difficult to have him leave the rest alone, especially with them being useful to deal with the Blood Army, though I would assume the holds in Chulassa territory are just as threatened."

He will pause for a moment "Thinking about it might not be a bad idea for you to visit the Dwarfs to introduce yourself and warn them that there are indications that Drow are likely to be an increased threat, though I wouldn't be surprised if existing holds already know that."

As he leaves he will pause and mention "Though, I will take the suggestion under advisement."

Staris makes his way back to HQ to see Tony and Trinal talking. Maizan and Syric are still polishing their weapons and armor.

Trinal will relay what Tony and I have been discussing to the group and ask for opinions.

"Sounds to be a worth while endeavor, especially since it seems we haven't been given much else as options."

"Can't help feeling getting hired on as body guards for a caravan would be the easiest way to get there and could be paid rather than costing us getting there."

"Only real difficultly being its not like such caravans are setting off every day so may get stuck somewhere waiting for the next to pass thru."

"If push comes to shove nothing says we couldn't buy a wagon or two along with enough water provisions."

he will point to the western cost "Unless there is a known port that would be sending ships the direction we want I would rule that out, as it would likely be very expense chartering a boat to take us where we want to go, and would again fall under those ships don't leave every day and would still likely cost us something to get there. Not that fiances are dire."

"Though may not be a bad idea to check with the professor as he may know something or know who to ask on what the best approach would be."

With that he will get a drink, preferable alcoholic though will drink water if the only thing available. When he gets back to the table will look to the group there though not call over any that wasn't already part of the conversation, it however wouldn't be hard to image the shift in the conversation would draw their attention. Taking a pull from his drink before starting "On a side note something the group should be made aware is that I got news that my brother is in a leadership position, with rather hard value sets." He will pat the sword at his hip though not broach it further.

He will take another pull "We should come to expect him to send forces against us. Though more importantly I want you all to respect any wishes I have as a result of this. As even if he doesn't attack us directly, should it be known that a member of the Phoenix Guard is a relative, would without a doubt undo everything we have accomplished. So if it appears that will happen I will be leaving the group."

"In the unlikely event he visits us in person, I need you all to let me leave with him. You should understand the reason I am topside now, and all the... good, I've done, is because i couldn't fight him then and that won't change while I'm a member of the Guard."

He will take a final pull on the drink and with a faint smile "On the bright side sounds like Sadie's group will be the ones to get the gate built at Silverdeep when all the preparations are taken care of."

"We're not going to simply abandon a friend so easily. Hopefully it will not come to that."

Trinal chuckles and says "But I knew there was something about you that was a bit different than the average Drow... so! A young man of more or less noble origins comes to the surface and thereby will hang a mighty tale, I'd wager- if it's not there already."

"Oh no! We have enemies that we may not even be aware of, whatever shall we do?!"
Tony feigns surprise
"Stavis, we've stuck by you to this point, we aren't going to abandon you now. That's not how Tony Plush operates or any of the Phoenix Guard as far as Tony Plush can tell. We'll help you as you wish us to help no matter what comes, because that's what we do.
As for traveling south, Tony Plush has an idea on how we can get some additional info on trade headed that way. As a diplomat Lady Roslyn may have some useful info both on land and sea trade routes that we can use to get there if that is the path we have decided upon. Tony Plush could pay her a call tomorrow and find out."

"Excellent idea, Tony. I'll also visit the academy and ask Alister if he knows anything about the trade in that direction- given his interest in more or less rare items, it seems possible he'd have some insight."

So the plan:

Tony is going to go on a date/trade discussion with Lady Roslynn
Trinal is going to go talk to Alister about the prospect of trade routes and rare artifacts.
Stavis: ????
Syric: ????
Maizan: ????

[OOC I would say Mazian has some time to explore still, with worse case he doesn't fully explore it before we leave. I mean we still need to hire someone to watch the house. That could be accomplished rather quickly but still something to do. I wouldn't be surprised if it will still be at least two days before we head out.]
