Trinal sets out in the morning to the Conservatory. Upon reaching the front desk you see Alister chatting it up with his normal bravado and braggartness with a semiannoyed desk clerk. Upon seeing you his face lights up and the clerk's misery is ended.

"Trinal my boy, so good to see you. I was thinking with my noggin, that maybe we got this all wrong. Maybe instead of trying to find runes, we should be researching the Art of Somniunancy. Think of it this way, you learn new languages not from books and written word, but you learn it, I mean really learn it, by immersing yourself in the world of that languages speakers. For example, I speak elven, because I lived in a small elven fishing village for a year while studying an mysterious magical pox that was cast upon them by a wandering vagabond of malicious intent. Turns out that someone had been throwing rotten fish in the water supply. The point though is that I learned elven by being in and around elfs all the time. So maybe we can study how your friend dreams."

The next day Tony will grab the scarf and head to the Freeborn Isle Ambassador's residence and ask if Lady Roslyn is available for lunch.

Tony walks to the Freeborn Ambassador's gated villa overlooking the port. The guard greets you and upon seeing the scarf calls for a servant to confirm. You wait patiently and a few moments the servant returns. "Mr. Plush, the lady will see you now on the southern balcony for refreshments. Please follow me." You walk through the gate and into a very luxurious house filled with art and fine furniture. Servants are polishing and dusting as you are lead through an interior courtyard and into a back hall, up a staircase and onto a balcony overlooking the port. There are a few tables with parasol's for shade. One has been set up with a tablecloth, flatware, plates, and glasses. Lady Rosyln is not there though. The servant pulls teh chair out for you and asks if you have a wine preference. The food will be fish, so he recommends a sherry of a chardonnay, but indicates they do have a riesling if you'd prefer.

Trinal smiles at the clerk and walks with Alister. "Let's find some refreshment- breakfast, perhaps? My treat this time. I have some questions I'm hoping you might be able to help me with, and what you've just said intrigues me- I suggest we dispose of both matters over a meal."

Once settled (assuming there's no objection to this fine plan), he will bring things around to what Alister said.

"What you said when I arrived this morning- A very interesting idea. I'm not familiar with this art you refer to- did you coin a new term to describe the concept or is it simply an obscure branch of magic I'm not familiar with?"

"I'd also like to pick your brain about what you might now regarding trade routes through the Dragonscales Desert. How safe they are, where the caravans go, and how one might get there while avoiding the war areas and our common enemies."
A man may fight for many things. His country, his friends, his principles, the glistening tear on the cheek of a golden child. But personally, I'd mud-wrestle my own mother for a ton of cash, an amusing clock and a sack of French porn. - Edmund Blackadder

@ Trinal

"I may have coined the term for it, but legends talk of soothsayers in the old emprie who would interpret the Emperor and Consul's dreams to divine meaning to apply to the affairs of state. The how has always been a bit fuzzy, but I think it might give an alternate tack to solve your ultimate problem. Think of it this way I am talking to you and I say 'It is lovely weather' in my normal tone you get that I'm fond of the clear skies we are experiencing and whatever. But let's say I'm figeting with my cane, looking downward, saying it unenthusiastically the words themselves mean very little. It could be simply filler material when what I'm really saying is all body language. Or if my body language was normal, but I said it in a certain tone, you'd note sarcasm. We are taught as scholars that words matter, as they are the core of the arcane arts. Hell you ever notice that the word to list the letters in a word is called spelling? It literally is advertising our profession with SPELL. We have a natural bias towards the literal, but when we look at words in context they can mean other things. We may or may not be able to sort out the runes. It would be like me learning to read goblin, or a menu at 2 star restaurant. Difficult to say the least." He chuckles amused with his elistist joke, "But if we can figure out how the soothsayers of the old empire did their work, maybe we can pick up additional clues. Of course for centuries dreams have been dismissed in academia as the ramblings of the mind like a baby babbling words, so no attempt that I'm aware of has been made to attempt to restore this lost art."

He pauses midthough "Wait, trade routes? Dragonscale Desert? What is going on? Is there chance for adventure? I can pack my bags and be ready in three days!"

Maizan will take his time and wander around the city. He will be looking for the Dragonborn quarter/area and any Dragonborn out on the streets. If he sees them, he will approach and great them in Draconic.

Maizan wanders the streets but doesn't see any Dragonborn quarter. His disappoint mounts until he smells a roasted chicken with some fragrant aroma that reminds him of his youth. Seeking it out he finds a food stand with a dragonborn roasting up spicy chicken kebobs and served with a creamy dip.

In draconic he replies "Greetings fellow traveller. It is good to see your scales are not broken. Care for kryddig kyckling? The sauce is fresh and has jalepeno peppers."

Strolling over and taking a deep smell in. In droconic "It has been a very long time since I have tasted Kryddig kyckling! Would you be so kind as to server this humble traveler one of your delicious kebobs."

After taking and slowly eating offered street meat, "What do I owe you for this pleasure? I would like a 2nd one please."

Still in Draconic "They are 5 copper each. Do you have news of the Emporer? I heard a man talking about his health ailing, but men lie so who knows." He says wrapping up another kebab and handing it to you.

@Tony "Very well sir." The servant scurries off.

A few moments later the door to the balcony opens and out steps a radiant beauty of Lady Rosyln and her father the Ambassador.

"Mr. Plush, nice of you to take up my daughter's invitation to lunch. I'll be sitting in during the meal, but unfortunately cannot stay for a social discussion very long due to an engagement with the textile guild this afternoon. Matters of state and all." Ambassador Swiftheart says.

"Hello Mr. Plush. I trust you are doing well today? The sun shines nicely on your face." Lady Roslyn says.

They both are seated.

Before taking the 2nd Kebab, Maizan hands over 2 silvers. Thank you very much. Keep the change. I have not tasted or smelt kryddig kyckling since I was a child. If the news about the emperors health is true that is sad news, but alas I have no such knowledge either. I am new to this area and have just started seeking out our kind. I noticed there are not many in this city. Would there perhaps be an enclave?

Tony will frown at the servants back thinking that he needs to loosen the fuck up for a moment before going back to resting pleasant face.

Tony will stand as Lady Roslyn and her father enter and will offer his hand to the Ambassador to shake it as they reach the table. Then I will move to Lady Roslyn's chair to push it in for her as she seats herself.

"Thank you for the invitation. It is a pleasure to meet you sir and Tony Plush welcomes your company at this lunch. Hopefully you can add some of your wisdom to some of the questions Tony Plush has about trade in the south.
And Lady Roslyn, thank you. You look radiant as always and Tony Plush's day always improves in your presence."

Tony will then take his own seat.

Because I can assure you that the Freeborne Isles is always looking for merchants wanting to import and sell. The amount your lot was paid the other night would be more than adequate to start some kinf of import shop, and I could get you some prime deals from the Freeborne Textile Guild, a loom-master is an old acquaintance and I could get you a real bargain. Wait you said south. Did you mean the Dragonborne, or one of the Als?" (Note the cities of Al Partha and Al Ashar are often referred to as (the Als).

"Perhaps in time The Phoenix Guard would be looking into business ventures such as those, but currently our schedule has us looking south for our next job. We are looking toward the Dragonscale desert perhaps beyond the Als headed to Mogujos or even as far south as the Dragonborn Empire. If we elect to make this trip then we would be looking at what merchant routes go those directions as well as what is the political climate in those areas. And as you are the Freeborn Isle Ambassador you would likely have much useful information for us on those items Tony Plush was hoping you would share so we do not head there unprepared."

From your plane of existence the Sullied are Dragonborn who have forsaken the gods for other belief systems(alternative pantheons, philosophical cults, or atheism), people who kill a relative (up to about 3rd cousins), or act in a manner which is considered unhonorable to a taboo degree (sleeping with a sibling, using a poisoned blade in a duel for honor etc).

"Well the Dragonborn are more isolationist in recent years, so any trade you do with them, you should expect ports to be a nightmare of inspections, and possibly bribes to gain entry. Once in it isn't inconceivable you might find yourself restricted in movements without a chaperone, unless you can secure patronage from one of the houses. But that could involve doing tasks for them to curry favor. Quests if you will.

Now Mogujos, that is interesting. One of the free cities, they are unique in their government for much of the known world. They are run by what is called a democratic republic. They elect men of good standing to make laws and have preside over the execution of state tasks. It has some extremely wealthy families who run mines out of town. The normal jewels and ores sure, but they also apparently have access to some rare magical essences in these mines. In the days of the old Empire Mogujos was never conquered as it was wealthy enough to hire legions of soldiers to defend itself. The martial spirit persists in the form of gladitorial sports which are one hell of a show if you get the chance. Now they export these raw materials, but they import spices and exotic materials. So your best bet if going there is to fine a spice trader and see if you could provide protection. The rosemary and oregeno are favorites. Also they seem to like wines from the coast, so that is another avenue. I should warn you as your reputation as a people's hero preceeds you. Slavery is normal there. People fom poor families will sometimes sell themselves into slavery to pay off debts, or to help their family. People can buy their way out of slavery, and there are strict laws governing how to treat slaves. I knew a gentleman who abhorred slavery and he made a lot of trouble for himself travelling through there with his behavior. Their slavery isn't as barbaric as the old days of Cine Empire for example, before their civil war."
The ambassador says as he begins to eat.

Maizan follows the instructions to Gznok's smithy. The air is filled with the smell of coal burning, and the clang of hammers rings in the air accompanied by an old Dragonborn song. A young dragonborn, no more that adolesence sees you and runs inside. Moments later he re-emerges with an older dragonborn covered in soot, heavy aprons, and a pair of goggles.

In draconic "Welcome friend though I can't say we've met. What brings you to my smith today?"
