Trinal will stand and shake his hand. "The pleasure is mine, Mr. Zecas. Thank you for seeing us." He'll then sit back down politely.

"As I was just saying to the Professor, this is quite an impressive establishment."

@Trinal "Well we do try." He says with a little chuckle. "So I'm sure the Professor gave you the basics of what we are, but allow me to flush that out some. We are a consortium of scholars interested in the expansion and enrichment of the arcane magics that exist in this plane and others. We do an awful lot of research, and provide education. We have a museum for magical artifacts that our scholars have donated or lent from their private collection, and we have lectures on all manner of subjects within the realms of extraordinary power. We have different levels of involvement, and given your recent accomplishment we'd like to invite you as a Travelling Scholar. This is the lowest position in our organisation, and one that has a couple of restrictions, but given your chosen occupation may prove to be the most suitable for now. As a travelling Scholar you are expected to give a lecture on arcana related topics derived from your work at least once a year. There is a 200g annual fee. With it you get use of the library, but do not have the ability to remove books from the premises. You get to attend two lectures per quarter. You can visit the museum vaults for study, only with a Permanent Scholar supervising your study, and you do not get dining room privileges. We do have quarterly galas which you do get to attend to though. If, as your career soars, you wish to pay more per annum and perform a few other tasks for the Presiding Council, we can go over those rates, privileges, and requirements. So Trinal, does that sound like something you might be interested in?" Mr. Zecas says with a smile.

"That sounds quite interesting and access to the library would be very helpful, and I'd be very happy to give whatever insight on the work I've done- with the Professor's help, to be sure- in the form of lectures."

After a slight pause, he says carefully, "...unfortunately at this time I don't have the fee, but I expect that after our next project, I will. So perhaps I can take up the position at that time. Would that be acceptable?"

@Trinal Mr. Zecas smiles. "Come back in a few days if your fortunes change. We'll have a standing invitation for you." He says with a knowing wink as he performs a cantrip of a few gold coins jumping from one hand to the other leaving a rainbow streak. "In the meantime, let's have tea and chat. Tell me what sort of work you've been doing. I'll be sure to take you through the library on the way out."

"Tony Plush is a man who wears many hats so to speak. Actual hats though, not so much. Mercenary,
scout, saboteur, infiltrator, recoverer of stolen relics are all things Tony Plush has done. Many of those actions in the name of Avandra herself. Since arriving in Waterdeep as a founding member of The Phoenix Guard Tony Plush has traveled from here to Brackton, where the group saved a Bishop of Avandra from human sacrifice, to Silverdeep and finally the Citadel before returning here. And Tony Plush and The Phoenix Guard made a few enemies among the Army of Blood and Chulassa along the way."

"Wisdom comes from relection on one's actions. It comes with time. It is evident in how one holds himself in the light of day. Study yourself and seek true knowledge." the shopkeep says. "You have power, but you have not trained. You have skills that are raw and unfocused, I saw that in your palms. Seek a teacher or become a student first and foremost of yourself. This however is not a call to be a narcissist."

Syric will thank the old man and leave his shop.

Depending on time/day he will seek out the temple of Melora.

You go to a luscious garden which could easily be mistaken for a park if not for an old building with ivy up the sides. You walk in and see long curved benches around a pool of water, sunlight coming in from a hole in the roof. The pool has a few water lillies floating and fish in it. A priestess tends to some potted plants as you walk in.

Syric will quietly enter and take a seat on one of the benches facing the pool, trying not to disturb the Priestess.

Trinal settles back and puts some milk in his tea. "I haven't had proper tea in some time." Sighing, he sits back and sips, then says "Where to start... Well, we have to give credit to the Professor once more, for starting the ball rolling, so to speak.

I'm a member of a group that calls itself the Phoenix Guard, late of Brackton and Waterdeep. Since we returned to the scene and linked up with the Professor some months ago, we determined that it would be a good idea to assist the ongoing struggles against the Chulassa by helping to liberate the Citadel. The Professor provided information on an arcane gate system that we might be able to take advantage of- with the proper materials.

Armed with the research we did and a list of ingredients- mostly magical essences and precious gems- we set out first for Silver Deep, where we had some interesting times, then on to the Citadel.
"

He pauses to take another sip.

"Oh, you have no idea how nice that is. In any case, the Citadel is under siege, but a small band with some skill can get by where an army could not, and we managed to enter the Citadel- with some assistance from a citizen of the same place, it should be said.

We then spent several weeks convincing the Citadel leadership of our bona fides, assembling the people, skills and materiel, then yesterday I was privileged to cast the final ritual which connected the gate to the one the Professor had established here in Waterdeep.

I'd be happy to sit down with you, the Professor and any others to go over the process, its limitations and requirements, and put together a lecture or two about it. It's important that such knowledge not be lost or forgotten once more.

More recently, and it should be said, the main reason I'm interested in seeing the library, is that I've been made aware of a dream or vision of a runic box- the runes on it bear strong resemblance to ancient Western Coast magical runes, specifically the pre-Antika Simmun Empire magics, but I don't know much about it. However, what little research I've been able to do leads me to believe that it's very much worth following up on.

Given the reputation I understand your library holds, I'm quite excited to spend some time there and do some reading."

@Trinal "Fascinating. I hear the north is a real horror show now on both sides of the mountains. A runic box you say, let me pull some books tomorrow and when you come next we can sift through them together. I might see if one of the other scholars knows more about runes than I do though, if you don't mind." Zerac says.

"Well I have a meeting I should be getting to, let me walk you two out, but we'll take you through the library first." Mr. Zeca opens his office doors and walks down a hall leading you through a couple of corridors. You get the distinct impression this place seemed lareg on the outside, but it seems bigger on the inside. After a few small stairs and doors you walk into a side entrance of the library. The place is huge. Imagine something like this:

Image

Except the statues are moving and the ceiling art is moving as well. This is easily the largest collection of books you have ever seen. It has various scholars working on projects scurrying around and there are a few young apprentices delivering them books to work tables and so forth.

"I do hope you join us Trinal, I mean if our meager library isn't too off putting." Mr. Zecas says leading you down the main of the room towards the front doors which lead back to the lobby you initially entered the building through. "Please come by in a few days and we can discuss what I've got for you regardless of your fund situation. I'd like to think of you as an investment of sorts."

"Oh my." Trinal is largely speechless as he takes in the place.

As he and the Professor are preparing to leave he will thank Mr. Zecas for his time and promise to return in a few days.
