Trinal will go back to his tea and wait until the Professor has a few minutes to talk.

@Trinal The professor breaks from the conversation of the generals and officials for a moment and says "How about Sadie take you two back to my apartment for the night, I'll round up the others when they come through. It'll be a little tight, but I've been working on a more permanent housing situation which hopefully can be ready in a few days time."

"Thank you, Professor, that sounds like a good idea. Before you go, can we talk for a few minutes about something? I'm curious what you know about pre-Antika western coast cultures- specifically their language and magic rituals."

Trinal gazes blandly at the Professor, knowing this will intrigue him.

A curiosity piqued he replies Well...they had bards and wizards who used runic magic to much frustration of the Imperial forces, the rune priests of today are but a shadow of the reported power of the magic they wielded. The magic invoked mostly forgotten gods, though speculation is that they were the same gods, but by different names. If you are familiar with Campellicus' work, Gods by Different Names: A Discourse on the Unification Pantheon he gets into that. But documentation of the specifics is pretty hard to come by. Have you checked out Daunton and Fossett yet? Wait I'm getting ahead of myself, what's this all about?" He says clearly more interested in this conversation than the one he took a break from to be hospitable.

"Well, toward the end of the construction phase of the gate, Stavis told me that he'd been having some sort of dreams or visions. I'd like to sit down with both of you to go over it, preferably somewhere with access to works like you mention for research.

But to summarize, he saw a cube with several sigils on it. I recognized them as runic writings from the pre-Empire Western Coast peoples, and did a bit of research with what was available at the Citadel. What I learned is confirmed by what you've just said, that they had very powerful runic magic, but were eventually defeated and their arts lost.

What I'm mostly curious about is what this cube thing Stavis has been seeing, and perhaps more interestingly, why he's seeing it. It feels important, somehow. But I'm not certain if it is.

@Trinal

"We will talk about this for sure, and I have an unrelated matter for you which may be of interest which we can get to after you guys get settled. Let's just get everyone here and let the diplomats and generals sort out their work." The Professor says digging into his pocket and tossing a key to Sadie. "My apartment, dig in the chests for extra blankets as I think our friends may have picked up some wayward souls. Tell Mrs. Eton that I'll need to feed 10 people tonight, roasts would be ideal, but we'll take what we can. She can put it on my bill." Sadie nods and indicates to Trinal and Stavis to follow her.

Trinal gestures to Stavis to go ahead of him. "After you, sir."

Glancing back, he muses "I wonder how long the glad-handing will go on. It's good to be back here, I must say. And I could use a rest."

"Sure." will follow Sadie

and will respond after Trinal "I have a hard time believing we won' have some time to rest, which I would point out would be a perfect opportunity to visit your mother. Though can't help feeling that our group or most of us will not be finished helping the Citadel until the Demon Gates are destroyed."

@Tony and Syric a round of huzzahs greet your proclamation of the gate opening.

@Trinal You get through the gate, gathe ryour stuff, head to Tony's favorite pub get a drink then make your way back to the gate and into waterdeep. By this point you see various high rnking officers and officals meeting in the gate area of Waterdeep shaking hands and doing introductions.
Tony will have a drink and chat with a few men he might have gotten to know a little. Then he'll stay for a second just to be sure before saying his goodbyes there and heading back to the gate for the trip to Waterdeep.

"A good point."

Trinal looks troubled. "I do want to see my mother again, but she still believes me to be dead. I'm not sure how to even have that encounter in the midst of all the rest that's going on."

"Trinal like it or not you are already in the history books as a man responsible for constructing a gate at the Citadel. As such unless you don't intend to take credit, which isn't guaranteed to stop the word spreading of your involvement, it is merely a mater of time before she hears you are a live and a stone throws away no less."

He will stop to look at Trinal "I won't press any more after this but if you chose not to see her, wouldn't be unreasonable for her to assume you have chosen to abandon or desert her, which I can't help feeling is something you wouldn't want her to think."

With his piece said will again follow Sadie

@Trinal and Stavis

Sadie leads you through a few hallways in what seems like the basement of the armory before heading up to a courtyard, past a gate and into the city proper. The streets are bustling with activity and the pleasant smells of cooking food tickle your nose. The air is warmer and has a saltiness to it that you didn't have back in the Citadel and the few trees you do see have started budding growth for the spring. She winds you through the city down thoroughfares and avenues. The people don't seem as desperate and there aren't as many obvious refugees as the last time you were in the city. She takes you to a multistory tenant building in a quiet corner of the city. She takes you up the stairs and to the Professor's apartment. There are books and scrolls scattered everywhere. There are two couches and some chairs, none of which match. There are two other rooms in the back. One is his bedroom/2nd library and what appears to just be storage.

"So how many people are we expecting so I can get enough bedding?"

Assuming no one else has business at teh citadel I'm fast forwarding.

Assembeld at the Professor's apartment for dinner are: Trinal, Stavis, Syric, Tony, Maizan, Franklin, Tomaz, Sadie, Victae, and the Professor. Ragescale has decided to make armor for the Citadel and has stayed there.

There are various seats about, none of which match, and some cushions on the floor for additional seating. Mrs. Eton brought up some meat and carrot pies. Wine is being served and conversations are starting.

"I apologize for the cramped quarters." The Professor starts, "But in my defense there were only five of you when you left. That said I want to welcome you all back to Waterdeep, and some of you probably welcome for the first time. I am eager to hear the tales of your adventures and discuss what is next. I mentioned to Trinal and Stavis that I think I have a more permanent solution for your housing needs in short time, but I need to square away a few things first. So tell me what you've been up to!"

Staivs will have seated himself on one of the cushions when it became apparent there weren't enough seats to go around. "As long as we are not sleeping under the stars or animal pens I think the accommodations will be more than welcome and though improvements might be enjoyed it may be smart to hold off some until it is ensured we will all be staying here long enough to make the effort worth it. As there is no telling what we could be doing once the dust settles on the gates construction."

After that will explain as best he can the adventures of the group in reverse, though will explain Victea's agreement at the Citadel first as he images the Professor will be interested in learning that first. Handing him his drawing on the cube when he gets to that point. As well as mentioning a desire to get in touch with the King of Silvers deep on not only repayment but his plans on looking to get a gate constructed there as well when getting to that point.

"As Stavis noted, we made some commitments to the denizens of Silver Deep, and it would be logical to look into re-taking it both logistically and for the resources it provides."

The professor listens enthralled. "Silverdeep to be retaken would provide a secondary push point on the Army of Blood. I'm sure some long term plans would be entertained by the generals. The Chulussa and the Army of Blood are more or less at a stand still in the great pass between the northern mountains and the Southern. If we can apply pressure to either one it stands to reason that the displacement of forces needed to defend against our troops might provide a benefit to the other side. For example if we funnel a few legions to the Citadel, the Chulussa would have to move forces to prevent a breakout, that weakens the pass and the Army of Blood can push. Likewise if we had legions pouring into Silverdeep the forces would need to be moved to Brackton to defend, and Chulussa can push. What we really need is more troops from unaligned kingdoms or powers, strong magical artifacts that can give our troops an edge, or strategic sabotage behind enemy lines in either of their realms to provide a problem for their forces. General Watson will no doubt see his fortunes soar with your success here, and with it will probably have some ideas how a group of a few highly talented men and women might make a decisive difference." He says.

"I'm sure Tony is interested in the 'strategic sabotage' angle; they got enough practice recently!", Trinal chuckles.

Tony raises his glass "And highly effective it was. Not to mention fun. And it brought a few new allies to the cause as well. And Tony Plush would be all in favor of continuing to terrorize them behind their lines. But, Tony Plush would also be intrigued by the potential of going artifact hunting. Especially since we have a Bha'al sack" Tony snickers at that "to recover yet. And any item we have on our side is one they can't use against us."

During the dinner Sadie, Tomaz, and Franklin seem to click and she convinces them to meet her associate for an adventuring party of their own.

The Professor also says "I want you all to keep your schedules clear for two nights from now. The General is organizing a dinner in your honor. There will be several influential people there who will no doubt take interest in the Phoenix Guard, and that could lead to some new propositions for adventures. In addition I think given your travels it would behoove you to stay in Waterdeep for a while, do some research on Stavis's dreams, network with upper brass so you can expand your resources if we want to stop this war. As I mentioned to Stavis and Trinal I have a place in the works which I think will serve well as sort of a headquarters for the Phoenix Guard. If people know where you are based out of, they can seek you out more easily is my thinking."

Victae after a bit excuses herself and heads back to the Citadel for the night.

"Sounds good, one thing I hope you might be able to help as well Professor is it also wouldn't hurt to help circulate some tales of the Phoenix Guard. I've already created one I used at the Lodge, though I wasn't exactly trained to read standard sheet music so will need help pinning them and hopefully get in touch with some bards or even one of the guilds to help that process along."

After that will collect enough of his things to be able to play "I will try to keep the evening open but I wasn't able to perform at the Citadel and I am sorely missing it which I intend to alleviate now." leaving it unsaid that it might not be a bad idea to not have the drow show up.

As he is leaving will turn to the Professor after remembering to ask "Oh in Brackton we saved a Priest, you wouldn't happen to have any knowledge on if he was able to get to safety."

He will stick around long enough to hear the Professors answer but will head out to the closer Taverns to play thru the evening, returning in the morning to rest.

@Stavis "A priest? Haven't heard anything on that, but I'll keep an ear out. And please try to attend the dinner, even in the mask. The general wants to honor all of you." The Professor says.
