Trinal laughs. "That's great news. I hope it's just the start of lifting this siege."

Absent further conversation, etc. Trinal will finish his meal and return to our quarters, potentially to rest and get ready for the next session on the gate.

What's the status of the gate, by the way? How close are we to seeing it finished?
Probably another day or so. Then end will be a ritual that you will perform that takes concentration. So if you think the Citadel Marching Band is scheduled to practice there, you might want to talk to them first. :shifty:

At dismissal Tony will head for our area, leading the Dragonkin to our "quarters", such as they are. On the way Tony will mention to the Dragonkin "Tony Plush should warn you that one of our party might come as a bit of a shock to you. He is not Chulassa, but is of a race you might find...objectionable. Do not let his appearance fool you though, no better companion could you ask in battle. He has saved our lives many times and likely will continue to do so."
Ragescale says "He's not ogre is he? I knew a half ogre, and he was a sorry sack of crap. And could not stop farting."

Wyrmtoz looks at Ragescale sideyed.

To Stavis, Trinal says "I did a bit of research, or what I could here, on that cube you drew for me. The runes on the faces seem to be something similar to very old Western Coast languages- before the empire conquered them. There's not much in the library here but what I was able to find about that war indicated that they had very powerful rune magic. However, as far as I'm aware the secrets to that are long lost.

What I'm also curious about is why you're having these visions here and now. Do you think it has something to do with this place?

That's not true, at least 2 Chulassa died in the freeing of the Dragonkin.

Trinal looks faintly surprised. "Greetings, gentlemen. I gathered from the gossip amongst the soldiers here that something bearing your... imprimatur had gone on in the besieger's camp."

Looking at the three dragonkin, Trinal nods his head politely. "A pleasure, gentlemen."

Maizan will look for something (someone) to eat. It has been many days since I have had something hearty to eat. Would it be too much trouble to point me in the direct of the mess hall or kitchens?

[OOC Presuming the food that had been brought in earlier hasn't been collected would mention.]" though there is food and drink that you all are welcome to if you would rather keep the walk short. Though the food had been brought in earlier so if anything has been sitting out too long, shouldn't be a problem to request they be replaced." indicating with his hands to Maizan and the other dragonkin they are welcome to any spot at the table, though not getting up from the corner of table he has setup to work at.

After that will look to Tony and Syric "I take it the scouting was of some success." will have a look asking, is this all you could free or is this merely all that survived being freed?

Wyrmtoz looks at the drow then the food, then the drow again. "Thank you." He takes some food and starts to eat not sitting too close to Stavis, but being polite as he can.

Ragescale meanwhile just heads to the fountain and starts lapping up water.

"No worries, looking into the cube is clearly keeping your focus."

I would assume at least one of the copies has been made and would be out on the table. Stavis wouldn't bring it up yet, as he is a little more interested in hearing Tony's tale of their scouting first before bringing up his dream.

"So yeah, say hi to Ragescale, Wyrmtoz and Maizan. They are along for the ride, at least for the moment as Tony Plush and Syric accidentally on purpose saved their lives. Now you are probably asking yourself, Tony Plush, how did you accidentally, on purpose save the lives of 3 Dragonkin? Well, turns out that those gods cursed Chulassa were going to use them to fuel those cursed towers. Apparently they are called demon gates. So anyway, during the scouting trip there was too much activity in and around the towers to get a good look inside. But there is, or actually now was, a huge stockade in the middle of the camp. Tony Plush and Syric observed them taking a Dragonkin into one of the tents at the base of one of the towers and it became pretty clear they are using some kind of sacrifice to power up those towers. So we decided to take their fuel. So Syric sweet talked the guards into letting he and Tony Plush stand guard at the stockade, then he freed the our new friends, Tony Plush set fire to the stockade to create a diversion while we all escaped. Then just to add to the fun Tony Plush tried to set fire to some of their stores, but the damn lantern ran out of oil before the supplies caught fire, so we ran all their horses off instead then made it back. Pretty quiet night overall.

What's new with you? Gate working yet?"

Tony points to each Dragonkin as he introduces them, and once done with his story he lounges back casually like it was nothing special.

Stavis will listen attentively "I see, good idea freeing them, did you see any others pinned up besides the dragonkin?"

he will look to be deep in thought as he scratches his chin as he works it over murmuring more to himself though load enough to be heard by those at the table "Most troubling if the device was three scarifies away from being completed... though we can hope they was merely the ones that had been designated to be scarified so far,... or that there is some conditions the victim must meet to be a sacrificed. Dragonkin, males especially are known to be more tolerant to pain and torture so that may have made them the preferred target."

At the realization he hasn't brought up the cube he dreamed up to Tony and Syric yet will pop out of his mussing will show each the drawing he made "That's right, not quit as adventurous but after you both left I... dreamed this up. I can go into more detail on it but thought I would ask if you recognized any of this. I can't say for sure, just a gut instinct that its somehow related to these 'demon gates'."

[OOC posting both links for ease.]

He will than look to each of the dragonkin to see if they have anything to add as well as offer a look at the drawing he made to any willing "Did any of you happen to over hear anything about this thing they are building and what it might be used for."

Replying to Furiel's question, Trinal says "We had a bit of a setback today but it's now resolved, thankfully. I think we'll be ready to do the deed tomorrow. It will take most of my time, energy and attention for a good portion of the day, so I'm going to try and get some additional rest this evening."

Gesturing to the drawings on the table that Stavis provided, Trinal says "I've also been trying to help Stavis with this... it's very curious. These runes appear to be similar to ancient runes used by pre-Antika cultures on the western coast. What little I could find in the library here indicated that these cultures fought back against the Antika invasion using some sort of extremely powerful runic magic- but it also seems that some of the tales about their abilities are either apocryphal or mythical. Of course, they could also be true. The tales of the Bruidach- what they called themselves- came down through the Antika Sinnum historians, so we're not likely to get an unbiased view."

He shrugs slightly. "I have no idea what this cube could be or what its purpose is or was. However, I'm not sure that's as interesting a question right now as why is Stavis dreaming of this here and now, so far away in both space and time from the Western Coast peoples who might have used something like this?"

"Oh, and your deeds are already being discussed amongst the soldiery here. Although they seem to think it was one of their own who went out againts orders" chuckles Trinal.

Maizan will sit down closer to the drow and and digs right into the food, not caring if he makes a mess or not. Is there any good beer around here? after a few moments of carnivorous consumption he says Let me see the drawings, drow..

History check: [d20]+6=17+6=23

He takes the drawings and examines drawings them closely, wiping off any spilt food.

@Maizan The cube looks to contain runic expressions on the top which resemble symbols used in the ancient cultures of the far northwestern region of the main continent.

Stavis's first reaction to Maizans eating will be to work to protect the ritual books, documents he was working on to help Trinal on the gate construction, and the cube drawings he had made.

"Beer will likely require going to a tavern though we do have some wine." Will pick up one of the wine sacks and an unused cup offering both the Mazian.

Stavis will hand over one of the pages he created to Mazian when he asks for it.

Probably a fair guess that Tony's general lack of history knowledge means he isn't going to have any useful info on the cube. Unless it relates to religion or Dungeoneering, then I may have a shot.
