Where stuff stands?

Post by Jimer Lins » Sat Jan 28, 2017 8:21 pm

I'm hoping someday to get back to the Blackie's D&D game- I opted out of the other one because I wanted to take a break too, but I'm feelin' the itch again. Joun, you been thinking about getting it rolling again?

The game I was running basically died because I got a new job and I just don't feel I have the time to give it the attention it really deserves. I might try to revive it again someday because I really like the premise, but there is a lot of world building that needs to be done before I would feel comfortable with that though. I dropped the ball a little there in that I have all of the foundational themes and ideas for the world, it's backstory, etc all written down. But the actual nuts and bolts I don't, which creates problems when actually trying to run the actual game. :woe:

That said if Joun revived his game I do feel like I would have time to participate as a player.

Aw, don't feel bad about stuff like that. We do this for fun and it's not always easy to be the guy behind the screen. I'm down for Joun's game if he's feeling like he could get back to it. If not, that's OK too. :)

I had been debating on trying to write up a where we left off for both to see if there was interest in picking either back up. So would be all for it for either or both if everyone else is interested.

I'll have to review things Jimer but I think the main, if not only one, thing we where waiting on for Joun's game was how you wanted to go about questioning the suspects, though would suggest we get a "lets restart this" from everyone before posting things in the form.

No worries Furiel, I was certain it was the new job that had kept you away, though had been a touch worried my tangent and the prospects of a split party had played a role.

I could start back up. I'd want to make sure everyone is bsck, or fine with a storyline exit.

One issue I also felt was that I might have written myself into a corner, so I may railroad it some to get it back into the swing of things.

Alternately we could make an online game every fortnight for 2 to 4 hours a session and go that way ahead so we lose the asymmetrical posting habits since everyone is "there".

I'm ok with doing an online session though I would ask REAlly nicely that we get past me stuck in the room before we start that cause otherwise will would be a couple sessions where I could pretty much not to be there. Presumably past the gate getting built and my "testing" that living things safely get sent through.

That's how a DM becomes a tyrant.

Okay so I just reread all 22 pages of the last capter thread.

The status updates:
You guys are in the citadel.
Stavis is confined to your sleeping hall under house arrest and has been hearing things.
Syric met with a priest of Kord who advised him to begin teaching as a way to to improve himself.
Tony has been tapped for a mission (with syric) to do recon on these odd looking magical seige engines out in the middle of the Chulussa Army
Trinal has been building the gate, but some materials are missing and he has the suspects seprated and their rooms being searched.
Victae has rejoined the Citadel for at least 3 months as part of the deal to get you guys in.
Franklin and the three dwarves are planning once the gate is built to start working on rounding up teh dwarven diaspora to reclaim Silverdeep.

I'll have a new thread sometimes this week, but we have no dicemod at the moment due to the forum software upgrade so for now it is honor system until Tak gets that working.

Oh some metagame stuff. You guys should start looking at what you want your characters to look like at level 10. You'll be leveling once the gate is complete. And with that the middle 10 levels you guys might be in more of teh middlegame for the story. People can start taking on sidekicks or apprentices. You should expect people to start developing deeper connections with people in power as they seriously start recognizing yours. Think of things your character might want as a goal or life aim.

Morning all. It has been a while...

I would be interested in joining again, if there is room. I would also be very interested in the Fortnight online sessions.

Whoops. Sorry about that. I have a backup of this board up on my domain so that I can test stuff and not worry about breaking things here. It was stupid of me to post to an existing thread instead of creating a new one.

Hah, no worries, mate. I was a dev for twenty years, I know how it goes. ;)

I just got a chuckle when I got the message. :vader:

I think I was playing a human male ranger at level 4 named Spintik.
I also have a 10th level halfling monk named Wil Teasle

What version of dnd is was this game in?. I am going through my handbooks and noticed that the version/editions are not listed on the PB. I have the 2010 edition and the 2014 edition.

It would be the 2010 edition. 5th edition came out in 2014.

I'm not opposed to having to converted to 5th edition, but for consistency sake I think we're sticking with 4e. Also to power match if we did go 5e we'd probably need to look at relative power levels of the midlevel. (4e has 1-30, 5e goes 1-20).

As for which toon to play, Spitnik decided to stay in the afterlife. I'm not saying it would be impossible to have him come back, but I'd need to think on a way to make it work story wise. Plus you'd have a level gap with the rest of the party.

the level 10 monk is from that side game we ran right? That'd be 5e.

Yes. the Monk was from that side game.

I can role new if easier. Or I can play 4th level with these guys. I could be Tony's follower, but that might not be good for the head space in any room he is in. :)

Well story wise Victae is leaving for a while, possibly longer. I've got a few ideas which allow for a fresh level 10 to join. Spitball some ideas for character type/roles you want to look at and we can figure out the entry point.

Is there a character type/role needed? If memory servers the party was cleric/healer heavy.

it has two healer types and two dps types. Victae was the tank type or defender I think its called in 4e. But choose a class you'll like playing.

Has anyone gotten in touch with Whiteness as he is the one person that hasn't mentioned one way or another in the form on restarting with his character.
