"A while. I figure we still have 30 miles until we reach the road, then that will be another hundred miles or so. If they are still under seige, we'll have teh fun problem of somehow sneaking in." Victae says poking at the fire with a stick.

"That's the funny thing about sieges, the biggest threat to us getting in is probably going to be our own people. The army of blood isn't looking to keep people from getting in, just trying to keep them on lockdown. So getting to the walls, etc shouldn't be insanely difficult, it's getting in without getting holed poked in us Tony Plush is worried about."

"Agreed, doubtful but one could hope the professor was able to send word ahead of our coming but in any case may mean trying to get a small group in first and signal the second on how to safely approach." Stavis will first look to Tony and signal him that he shouldn't include Stavis in the welcome party and then look to Victae "Any ideas on your part on how to signal or let the Citadel know we are friendly."

Night passes. The morning the party sets out. The snow has stopped. After a while you notice that the pristine snow has bloody foot prints heading north. They look similar to a wolves but larger than you'd expect. It is one set of tracks. The party continues around the next mountain and makes pretty good time all things considered.

As you pass the mountain to the next valley you see a single pillar of small wispy grey smoke down in the valley.

"Hm. It appears we're not alone out here. But that doesn't look like a large encampment, at least from here. Shall we go around or investigate?"

Will our current course take us near the camp? I'm assuming it will but want to be sure before I respond.

As you look down the valley you could or you couldn't. The breaks in the trees fall into 3 main tracts, the smoke seems to be from the far north one. You could go to it pretty easily as you go towards the next mountain, or you could just as easily go down one of the other tracks and miss him by half a mile or two miles. Overall it won't add or subtract a significant amount of mileage to your journey.

"It's unlikely to be an adversary so Tony Plush votes we stop by. They could have news or other information about the land around here that could assist in our journey. Or judging by the tracks we saw earlier they could need our help."

"A fair point, and if I'm honest I'd like to see who else is out in this wilderness and why."

Unless there's other objections, Trinal will suggest we take the northerly track and approach quietly.

"I would also vote we look into it. Could have helpful information in our travels ahead and if they are friendly would prefer they be warned enemies could on their way. May even have some info on the wolf like creature we have seen signs of, would rather know as much on that as possible should a confrontation be unavoidable."

"I think we should investigate, I'd rather know what's out there now then have to guess when it's too late." Syric says before turning to Zelvo, "If he's a trapper, is there somewhere around here that he'd go to trade?"

the party meanders down the slop down the tract leading to where the plume of smoke originates. You approach a campsite with two figures around a small campfire cooking what appears to be rabbits.

One looks up to see the party.

"Friend or foe?" he shouts when you are 100 yds out.

"Friend, we are passing though, saw the smoke and wondering what you might know about the wolf tracks." Stavis will point the direction they came.

"If your willing to share the fire for conversation we would join you. If you would rather not share the fire we can converse for a while and camp else where."

"Are ye' in the hunt? We can let you share our fire, but we won't be sharing the prize." The figure says.

"This is a first I've heard of there being a prize, but we are in need else where so we're not hunting it directly. Merely asking to be aware of that which might try hunting us, especially for one that seems to be different from a typical wolf."

Stavis will then start to make his way to the fire in a friendly manner. "If you don't mind my asking, who has put out the bounty?"

You approach the fire and two older men covered in furs sporting long beards are warming themselves.

"The wharewolf prize. You aren't part of Drayson's hunt? The lodge at the end of the mountain highway's been reportedly losing lot's of trappers to the menace, and Drayson's offering a prize to the huntsman who brings in the pelt."

Trinal looks surprised.

"Drayson? Now that's a name I've not heard in a while. How's he faring?"

"Codgy ol bastard, but he pays well. I hear he used to be the hell of a slayer, but ever since the leg, he's turned to these kind of hunts to get the foul beasts." The near one says.

Syric casts a sidewise glance at his fellow half-human, unsure what may come from this tie to their past.

Trinal gives a half-shrug toward Syric. "I'm glad to hear he's still with the living. It's been quite some time since we saw him. But for now, how does your hunt go? Rest assured, we have no designs on your prize."

"So far the prey has eluded us. But we do think it has been nearby. We saw a mangled corpse a few leagues north of here, something savage. We are travelling south now, but fear we may come into Goblin camps. Where are ye' headed? The Lodge I suppose, but after that?"
