The only answer you'll get to that is "Because they need killing...all of them."

You sense there's more to it but Crag won't talk about it.
Would we assume it's lumped into his not wanting to talk about his family, etc or a separate grumpy dwarf thing?

Also, is the 'friends' thing so bad that he'd get actually mad if I called him 'friend' or has he gotten used to us using the term?
Any assumption you make is yours. It seems logical to believe they would be related but Crag will not confirm or deny any linkage between the two.

The friends thing is a grumpy dwarf thing. It's just a slow to trust gimme 50 years or so to fully warm up to people. If other people are quicker than that he takes no offense, it's just not his way.

Sure I was just trying to see if pressing him about Drows was the same as pressing him about his family. Basically what I see as the difference between when he gets violent and when he just won't talk about it.
Spoiler:

It's closer to the will get violent end of the spectrum.

I do slightly apologize for the lateness and the sheer volume but to my credit it is in rp style an autobiography and thus practically a books worth. Which is why I am linking it rather then pasting it here directly but I will do so if requested to.

One thing I would add not in the document is that during down times and at camps resting Lucan alse would write in his journal as well as write notes for current histories as they are unfolding as he understands them as the ever vigilant sage professor ignoring any comments or questioning on the usefulness on what he is doing.

Wil Teasle's back story.

Wil still remembers the streets of Sagemoor, the smells, the vendors, the school, and most of all the Church. Wil grew up there. He has no idea who his parents are, just Fagon the miser of a school master. The school was a very hard place. If you did well you received favor. If not, well somethings best not remembered.

Fagon had a very odd sense of mortality. He taught us the basics required by law during the day, but after dinner was when the real education began. Tommy and I did very well in the evening class and soon Fagon had us out running errands. We dare not keep any of what we took as Fagon had a real knack for finding that sort of things out.

I think it was around my 10th birthday that things got very bad. Our errands were not producing and Fagon was drinking a lot more then was good for him. Our last assignment was to relieve a monk of his apparently few possessions. What we got scared the crap out of all us. Especially Fagon. Little did he know that he helped himself to the possessions of the Twilight Monastery, Fagon left us and ran. They found his body skinned and hanging from the fish hooks down at the docks.

Tommy and I were left to protect the littles ones all hell broke loose. I was trying to get the kids out when the school seemed to shake and everything was falling around us. I was 4 dark strangers appear out of nowhere and grab what was left of the older boys and… I still remember the screams. I remember someone appearing in front of me and then the world went dark.
And that was my introduction to and how I became a follower of the Twilight Monks.

It was about 10 years after my graduation into a full monk when the Chulassa came in force. Once they got into the city, they seemed to have headed straight for The Church. I lost many a good brother and sister that day. I was out on assignment when this happened and heard they barricaded every exit, even the hidden ones, and set the place on wilde fire. Those members whom I had contact with slowly disappeared and I happily followed suite.

I was living in isolation not too far from the Dragonscales desert when out of the blue Duke Dorinel wanders into my compound and made me an offer I could not refuse. I have been working for him ever since. That would have been about 5 years or so ago.

He was forming a resistance force called Sagemoor Dragoons <<or Sagemoor Rangers or insert current name here>>. My part in the group was straight forward – Counter tactics, misdirection, and reconnaissance. My goal. Kill Chulassa. Free Sagemoor.

Jakar:

Jakar grew up as the son of a peasant farmer in the country outside Saerlorne, although he actually lived closer to a tiny hamlet well away from the city on the edge of the Dragonscales Desert.

Never satisfied with life as a farmer, Jakar was fascinated by the soldiers he would see marching or riding through the countryside to and from their business and their lords.

Although his parents did not approve, they did not- and really could not- stop him from traveling to Saerlorne to enlist in the local noble's militia as soon as he was of age.

In the legions, Jakar found his purpose and his passion. He was a soldier, and over the years he honed his abilities to a fine edge. He rose in rank but avoided several attempts to make him an officer, preferring to remain a simple soldier.

As a leader in the militia, he was respected for his skills, and sometimes mocked- never to his face- for his piety. He worships Torm, keeping his faith somewhat quiet, but always wearing a symbol of his god on his armor.

Jakar specialized in great weapons, in particular a massive two-handed sword his squadmates called "Torm's Razor" and a massive maul his squadmates nicknamed "Squeak Mallet" for the noise most made when it hit them- a small squeaking noise before they expired messily. He is a large and imposing figure, always wearing his huge plate armor in combat.

After serving in the militia for several years, Jakar realized he could help with the trouble in and around Sagemoor, and found Torm calling him to service there. He has been a loyal companion and an honorable warrior. Not quick to anger, when he is aroused, he is a terrible foe. His notions of honor and duty can sometimes be a bit troublesome when the party has needed to be more expiditious. He has tried to balance his own sense of duty and honor with pragmatism- with, it must be admitted, varying success.

Jakar has little use for magic, although he has no problem with using passively enhanced magical items, such as his maul and plate armor. But he disdains the use of items with active or triggered effects, preferring to fight in a more personal fashion.
A man may fight for many things. His country, his friends, his principles, the glistening tear on the cheek of a golden child. But personally, I'd mud-wrestle my own mother for a ton of cash, an amusing clock and a sack of French porn. - Edmund Blackadder
