"A fire would be good. Some warm wine and a warmer lass on Tony Plush's lap would be better."

We're going to keep going- Richard and Franklin are going to be in an especially bad way if we don't. Can we make it to the trading post by nightfall?

Tony Plush votes half day. If we aren't making quivk progress any pursuit will not be either. And we can't finish our quest if we die of exposure.

Stavis votes half day since unless we are just entering the town when we get there regardless of the risk of guards from Brackton being there, we will still need to camp outside town and so better to be keeping ourselves as comfortable as possible in the elements.

Unlikely to make it. altitude, non road, in this kind of snow. You had 20 miles at the morning and have gone probably about 7.

All right, half-day it is, I guess.

You guys make camp, start a fire or two and set up tents. Victae suggests getting the tents kinda overlapping to maximize body heat when in it.

Those who failed the endurance check will not get that healing surge back, but you guys can spend the afternoon trying again to make snow shoes. This will increase speed when you resume.

Stavis after helping setup the fires and a healthy stock of reserve wood will eat a bit warm up to the fire and make snow shoes, resting whenever his hands start to get cold.

[OOC as I understand it we need three for Victea, Franklin, and Richard. I will roll more then three times because he would not stop until they where made and would have stopped when he had finished the task.

Stavis would accept the same order but with the half day of travel and having finished all the snow shoes needed, would have mediated some through out the day and would have been willing to wait get a full block of meditate for the last shift instead of the first.

OOC: I said same order but Stavis wanted to change it and had a good reason, so I didn't argue. :)

Night settles in and the patrols start. The wind has a slight cut to it, but the snow thankfully isn't falling anymore. Victae and Stavis nurse the fire attempting to use the shielding techniques that Tony mentioned. To the Southwest there is a sound that catches their attention behind the trees. it sounds like a bear. Cover blown a horn is blown and Six goblins mounted on bears are approaching.

https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1--f ... sp=sharing

Notes about the map.
white is snow. The spray painted grey area is where you guys have walked previously. The brown are the tens. Green circles are trees who's branches intersect with the snow line and break line of sight as a result.
Green Heart- Victae
Purple Smile- stavis
Blue Moon- Syric
Green bolt- Tony
Orange Sun- Trinal
Blue Plus- Richard
Blue X- Franklin

Walking through the snow counts as moving in difficult terrain. http://dnd4.wikia.com/wiki/Difficult_terrain
Walking in a gray spray painted square is normal movement.
Orange yellow red is fire.

"Dammit. RISE AND PREPARE TO FIGHT PHOENIX GUARD!" Victae shouts.

Bears move first and get to the point where they landed on the map good guys are up.

Since I'm already out of sight might as well take advantage...

Stealth: [dice]0[/dice]

Tony will then move into a position for easy flank attacks when they arrive in camp.

Also I would think that there would be trampled snow all the way around the tents as we would have crushed it while setting them up plus any patrols would be checking out full perimeter behind the tents as well.
