Re: LPDnD: I'm Sticking With You
Trinal moves out of his tent. He lines up a shot and hits Goblin 4 with Dragonfrost. If a hit, he's knocked back (and hopefully off his bear).
Attack: d20+13 vs fort: 16+13=29
Damage: 1d8+10: 3+10=13

Goblin 4 (pentagon 4) has been knocked off bear 4 (star 4) and taken the damage from dragon frost.

Re: LPDnD: I'm Sticking With You
OOC - How aggressive do these bears look? Now that this one lost it's rider is it acting like a regular riderless mount, is it attacking on its own or is it looking at the goblin that got thrown off as food?

Re: LPDnD: I'm Sticking With You
In the fraction of a second since the goblin has been knocked off you deduce that given the time of day, the fact that there are still 5 other bears mounted nearby and a myriad of other factors that is is too early to tell how that bear is going to act.Whiteness wrote:OOC - How aggressive do these bears look? Re: LPDnD: I'm Sticking With You
ut to answer your first question the other 5 bears look pretty aggressive, though clearly directed aggression.

Re: LPDnD: I'm Sticking With You
Awesome, I was just trying to get a little insight on the bear-mount dynamic in general.
Are they common? If so, are bear mounts tamed beasts or are they only held in thrall by violence? Syric really wants a new ride.

Staivs will start by Glimpsing the Future.
[dice]0[/dice]
[dice]1[/dice]
[dice]2[/dice]
After that will use Song of Hope. "We've got this Phoenix Guard. Nothing we can't handle."
Effect: Until the end of the encounter, your skald’s aura gains the following effect: Your allies in the aura gain a +2 power bonus to skill checks. Once before the end of the encounter, when one of your allies makes an attack roll, as a free action you can choose to have that ally roll twice for the attack and use either result.
[OOC to make this easier will say Victae's first attack will get the roll effect. Also not sure that I have a skald's aura so probably don't get the +2 power bonus to skill checks.]

[OOC Glimpse the Future result so 14 and unless noted before one happens the first crit fail will get the roll.

Re: LPDnD: I'm Sticking With You
Bear mounts are rare, but not unheard of. They typically are a result of a beastmaster type fellow or madam who train them specifically for this and are used in mounted combat most notable in mountainous terrain by medium to smallish humanoids (like goblins). You possibly could ride one, but it would require a nature check with a -2 penalty as you are not a known rider. And there is a chance it could turn on you until it accepts you as its new master. Also you'd need to feed it ALOT.

Gotcha. Thanks.
Maybe this is the test Melora has put forth for Syric, trust in her and he'll be able to tame the wild beasts!

Basically if you manage to get the bear as a mount/pet, you are responsible for feeding it, walking it, and cleaning up after it. Don't expect Victae to clean up after your bear!

Re: LPDnD: I'm Sticking With You
[OOC not that I'm encouraging the bear taming but should the fight prove successful there would be plenty of goblin meat once all of the riders are taken care of. I would however point out that we are wanting to head into town at some point and I'm not sure how happy they will be if someone is riding a bear into town. ]

Re: LPDnD: I'm Sticking With You
Spending his action/heroic action point, Trinal notes that the goblin fell right in the middle.
Dancing Lightning, targeted at Goblin 4. Damage is 2d10+11, and if hit, all creatures around it take 11 points of thunder damage.
Not sure if the goblin has an AC penalty from having fallen on his keister, but if he does, all to the good.
Attack d20+13 vs reflex: 20+13 = 33 (aw yisss)
Damage: 2d10+11: 14+11=25
Additional damage from Thunderwave staff+3 (1d8 per plus on crit, so 3d8 total): 20
Crit: 58%
Bear 4, and both goblins and bears 5 and 6 each take 11 points thunder damage (not sure how the crit factors into that, your call)

Re: LPDnD: I'm Sticking With You
[OOC so question Joun if I used Blunder and pushed bear 4 back towards goblin 4, would that trample, the bear land on top of, or worse case not move at all because the goblin was in the way?]

Syric, with any thoughts of stealing a ride shattered with a lightening bolt (I ain't ridin' no spooked bear) lunges forward with a Mighty Sprint, straight into the thick of it, trying to set them off guard by attacking everything in front of him...even the poor oppressed bears

Trinal's lighting shoots out and hits goblin 4 and spreads through the group.
Syric without reservation lunges into battle and does damage to bear and goblin 4 and bear 6.
Goblin 4 is bloodied.

Re: LPDnD: I'm Sticking With You
Victae moves to the edge of the snow and takes up a position to intercept the bear attackers. Richard and Franklin leave their tent and take up positions in the rear not sure how best to help.
Richard looks at Franklin and says "Oh shit, I think those are goblin slavers!"
(Is everyone done for now, or does anyone want to spend an action point before the goblins go?)
