LPDnD: Straight Outta Brackton!

Post by Blackferne » Thu Dec 11, 2014 5:35 pm

The journey has been long, and at times trying, but the party finds itself about an hours walk outta the Town of Brackton. You are in a campsite you made not far from the road which leads to the Town which is due West of you at the moment.

It is morning, the air has a chill to it and the wind is blowing from the mountains keeping the air crisp. Not to plagarize, but winter is coming.

Stavis in preparing to head to Brackton will put on his Jester attire so that should his sneaking around the town be noticed he will lessen the likely hood he is discovered to be a Drow.

"We may want to be more careful and send in someone else first to evaluate the situation. They could have a checkpoint and not allow anyone in that's masked. I believe Brackton is the closest to the gap and is probably on a constant high alert."

"Possible, but with my stealth I may well be able to get in without having to go through any checkpoints, wouldn't be the first time. Should that prove other wise Tony and someone else may well have to enter in my stead.

If someone else else wishes to go with us in case I can not is more then welcome but I will head to Brackton until it is proven I shouldn't enter the town."

"The gap is still a good deal away. Strategically Brackton is more of the meeting place for mountian clans and dwarf traders with the lower lands. I would imagine that it won't be on lock down Syric, but I could be wrong." Victae says looking at the map.

"Stavis has a good point, however no one should go alone. Let Tony Plush and Stavis go recon the town just to be sure. If we're not back by dark then you'll know something went awry."

When the group leaves to head to Brackton Stavis will pay especial attention to ensuring that tracks are not made leading to the camp from the road.

[OOC let me know if that is a different roll]

Along the way and before attempting to enter will watch Brackton for a couple mintues for any signs of heavy militarization and if any signs if there are indications of it being Blood Army.

Trinal will make sure that the scouts have one of the stones with them so they can communicate to us.

Tony and Stavis leave the hidden camp and travel a few miles to the outskirt of the city of Brackton. From their vantage a few hundred yards at the edge of the woods they see the two small rivers which flow in from the NE and SE of the town. There is a main road which goes to a city gate and carts are going in and out rather unmolested except a cursory glance from a few armed guards at the city gates. The walls of the city show what would be normal patrols in a city not at war. The flags show the Army of blood, and there is a mix of races bringing goods too and from the city gates. Curiously enough you also see goblins being allowed in (back in your day, goblins as a race were generally excluded from "The Cities of Men").

Victae, Trinal, and Syric sit in hiding keeping watch for anything out of the ordinary. For the first time any of you can remember you, see a squirrel vomit. More concerning however is a cold wind and some clouds in the distance over the mountains to the east.

At the risk of taking flavor text and making more of it than we should, does the squirrel seem to be ill or in some way plague-ridden, or is this just because it ate some bad nuts?

It is mostly to just highlight that you guys are pretty bored and noticed something that must happen in nature, but I cannot recall anyone I know ever mentioning seeing. After the squirrel pukes. It seems healthy as it bounds off into the brush.

Stavis will look over to Tony "If there is enough commerce rolling though easily enough could try and just walk in, a traveling jester and guardsman. The other option could be to enter seperatly and rejoin inside at a tavern closets to this gate."

"We should stick together so if something goes wrong help is immediately at hand."

When the people are moving through the gates are any of them armed? And if so are they being given any extra scrutiny or not?

You notice a few folks with short swords in scabbards walking in and out, but they don't seem to be given much extra attention. The general vibe is, don't start no shit, won't be no shit.

"Well unless there is something I've failed to notice seems like we just walk right in."

Should Tony agree will walk to the road and into Brackton keeping an eye out for any signs that there presence is getting any extra scrutiny.

OOC: I think Furiel's intimation was that it should be the whole party that goes in. But I'm not certain.

Tony nods in agreement and heads for the gates walking casually and like he belongs there. I'll roll stealth to blend in with the crowd if that will help.

As they walk Stavis will whisper so only Tony hears. "When we get through lets go ahead and head to the tavern first so we can let the others know we've gotten inside."

@Tony and stavis:

You walk to the gate and the guard picks up at the sight of a Jester. He calls out to Stavis,

"Eh mate, show me a trick!" Your perception tells you this is driven by boredom at his post, not out of a security concern.

Tony doesn't seem noticed by anyone as he gets past the gate within a nice sightline on Stavis and the bored guard.

FYI Thursday, things with my dad will be getting very serious as we switch to what is essentially hospice type care. So from this point to mid January I may be not able to GM much if at all in dealing with family business. If we get a miracle of some sort that expected timeline will change.

I'll be posting in the members area soon to better explain.

Stavis will signal to Tony to keep walking until he starts to draw a crowed, "Of course good sir, I'm more known for playing tunes but hope this will suffice.". Stavis will then walk up close enough to the guard so he can easly see the trick but try and stay far enough away to not cause concern or block too much of the gate way for passers-by before slowly and calmly pulling out 4 shuriken and start to juggle with them.

Acrobatic if nessicary

[OOC understood Joun when we get to the tavern to update the others seems like a good point to pause.]
