The guard is easily amused, and says he'll see if you are near the tavern later for more of the show.
Tony and Stavis walk through the gate into what is known as old town.

If the markers are too small and hard to move around let me know. This way you guys can explore, just be sure to post when you move and if necessary what the route is so I can explain what you see or encounter.

Re: LPDnD: Straight Outta Brackton!
Where you stand in old town you see the mayor's residence and barracks for the city guard. Straight ahead you see the city stronghold. The city walls run from the gate to the river banks and are at least 20 feet high in most places and made of sturdy stone.
Meanwhile back in the woods the clouds look like the storm is getting closer. Teh cold wind seems to be picking up.

Syric raises his eyes to the clouds darkening overhead, a smile toying about his lips. "I think Kord is suggesting we follow our comrades into town."
"They've been gone long enough that we should probably hear from them soon anyway, whether to follow them in or pack up to run."

Victae prepares her pack and stows her glaive on the side in a manner typically designed to show no hostility if walking into a town.

Stavis seeing the clouds after being let go by the guard looks to Tony on the way to the tavern "Let's go ahead and send the all clear to head in with the clouds coming in, maybe in shifts but probably unnecessary with the fairly lax feeling with the town guards."

Tony will start heading for the inn

Re: LPDnD: Straight Outta Brackton!
Stavis and Tony make their way to the inn. The inn is called The Orange Thistle. It is a large 2 story inn capable of housing several travelers with a large dining hall on the first floor, and a private dining room near the rear. Upstairs has many rooms of varying size. Bran is the innkeep.
A signal is sent and the other three arrive at the main gate with hardly a notice as they pass through the main gates.
Brann has no objection to Stavis setting up shop near the hearth, but asks for a quarter of all tips.

While Stavis is getting setup at the Inn, after we send the signal Tony is going to take a lap around town to get a feel for the town and the lay of the land. I'll try to time it that I'll be near the gate when the others show up.

Stavis agrees to the Brann's terms and sets up with his lyre, being friendly and observe the comings and goings.

Re: LPDnD: Straight Outta Brackton!
The trio walk to the city gates from the woods. The biting wind hitting their backs and a dark cloud front approaching.
Tony walks around what is known as the Merchant shore (area with the inn, warehouses, and the temple complex) before walking across the river into the slums also known as Weavertown due to some loom houses on that shore. People are living in cramped living conditions with the normal hustle and bustle you'd expect in a medium size city like this. As you get ready to cross Fontaine Bridge to Old Brackton you notice some chalk graffiti that catches your eye. It is of an eye with a backward R drawn in it. You pass over the bridge and see the trio walking through the gate nonchalantly. They do not seem to notice you.
Stavis in the inn you hear patrons talking about the coming storm and the clouds to the east. In addition you hear grumblings about the taxes being levied to pay for this war with the barbarians across the mountains. Final bit of gossip that is interesting is that there is a baptism of a young barnoness in the cathedral in three days time by the priests of the Army of Blood. The inn patrons are hoping for a parade weather permitting.

Re: LPDnD: Straight Outta Brackton!
You cross the gate into what is known as Old Brackton. You see barracks, administrative buildings, the Mayoral residence, and the Fortified City Stronghold. However your perceptive nature almost managed to miss a sign advertising the Orange Thistle. It has an arrow pointing to what appears to be the Leed's bridge. You remark to yourself that such an important sign should be easier to see for traveler's despite being on what is essentially a street sign full of such markers. Kind of like an information kiosk.Whiteness wrote:Crossing the gate, Syric looks for the inn that the others mentioned when they notified them.

Just to be sure, the graffiti means what we talked about a while back correct?Blackferne wrote:Tony walks around what is known as the Merchant shore (area with the inn, warehouses, and the temple complex) before walking across the river into the slums also known as Weavertown due to some loom houses on that shore. Tony will loiter for a bit away from the gates on the slum side waiting for the others to get through the gates, then I will start to discreetly tail them away from the gates until they are away from any guards then I'll sneak up behind them and say...
"Good sirs and lady, can you spare a few coins for a poor, hungry traveler like yourselves?"

"Sorry friend, I'm not one to hand out coins to any whom ask, but I would be happy to invite you to a meal with us. We were just heading to an inn now for that very purpose." With a wink, Syric continues, "us hungry travelers should stick together.

Re: LPDnD: Straight Outta Brackton!
The inn is bustling with activity as the party walks in to see Stavis playing a soft song by the hearth. It is clear to you he is gathering intel, but others seem to think he is just taken by his music.
The meal being served is a thick lamb stew. Ale is the primary drink though other things are available at a steeper price.
There is an empty table near the back.

One assumes we all manage to congregate at the appointed time and place?

Time of day is about 3pm. Sun sets in about 2 hours. You all have rooms (some shared) for the night.

Re: LPDnD: Straight Outta Brackton!
When Stavis sees the group enter will get himself to a stopping point putting his lyre back in his bag standing up and bowing to the crowd "I hope you all have enjoyed my playing as much as I have in entertaining you all but will need to take a short break as I've worked myself an appetite. Be sure it tip the Bran for this good food and drink."
After picking up any tips will head to be Bran givng his share so far and paying for his room, an ale, and stew. Should the group get to the open table before he does will make pleasantries in asking to join before sitting down otherwise will invite the travels to his table and make assurances he will return to playing once he is done eating.
After eating for a bit will let the group know everything he's learned so far.

Re: LPDnD: Straight Outta Brackton!
Upon entering the inn and seeing the empty table in the back Syric makes his way through the patrons who were being entertained by Stavis' skillful strumming.
He arranges for food and ale for the four of them as he passes by the bar, wanting to ensure they blend in.
As Stavis makes his way to join them, Syric looks to Tony and asks "So what have you heard?"

"You'll have to ask the performer, Tony Plush was too busy getting a feel for the people of the town, the layout and seeing how troops are disposed rather than interacting with the people."

Stavis will say to the group in a hushed tone so only the group hears. "Well there is the expected complaint on taxes, seemed to be solely directed at the Barbarians to the North. Not sure if that means extra taxes or that the fighting with the Drow is accepted or out of mind here."
Stavis will then lean into the table and whisper to be doubly sure no one else hears "Something we will want to look into and quite possibly intervene in, that there is a baptism of a young barnoness in the cathedral in three days time by the priests of the Army of Blood."
After saying his peace will in a over loud voice will slam his hand down on the table. "But sir why eat the donkey! HA Ha ha!" trying to bluff his way into making the the crowd think he had been telling a joke.

After looking like he is composing himself "Well... I guess it could use a little work." he will then sit back down to finish eating.
