Victae rveling in her new drunken adventurer role takes her stein of ale and goes up to Stavis and says

"We're gonna do this. Trees of a Soggy Marsh. Now." The song is a classic drinking song with bawdy lyrics. "Barmaid, more ale!"

Stavis very quickly complies with Victae's request with his lyre.

Tony returns a,little while after sundown, shakes some snow from his cloak and hair as he enters. Seeing the situation Tony feels there is only one appropriate response.

Tony grabs an ale and joins in the revelry and will be scouting out for any single ladies.

Trinal will enjoy himself but will not consume too much ale, and will keep an eye on the crowd.

The night goes on, people start to file out one by one. Tony manages to get into a flirty conversation with a lass until her brother pulls her away to go home.

Nothing much changes in the vibe of the place. Drinking, Victae being a lush and singing filthy songs, Tony being a flirt.

Having hopefully avoided overdoing it, as things wind down I'll make certain we've got rooms (can't remember whether we got them already).

Morning comes and with it you notice as you convene for breakfast Victae is not downstairs. The barmaid asks what you'll have for breakfast.

"Something hot and lots of it, plus coffee if you have it." Trinal says genially to the barmaid. He excuses himself and goes upstairs to check on Victae.

Trinal finds Victae on the floor of her room with a bucket reeking of vomit near her head. She is deep asleep and slightly greenish-yellow to the skin.

"Oh dear." Trinal takes the bucket and carries it to the privy, emptying it and rinsing it out. He'll stop in the main room and ask the barmaid to give him a large container of water. To the group he says "Does anyone have herbs or anything that would be good for a... headache? I think Victae will need them in a bit."

He'll take the bucket and the water back upstairs and get Victae into the bed. If she wakes at all he'll get her to drink some water. Did she manage to avoid fouling up her clothes?

She managed to change into a night shirt which has minimal vomit on it. No sign of "lower issues". She takes a sip of water as you are putting her to bed.

"I need more ale. Hair of the wolf and all." she moans in pain squinting. "Also lots of greasy eggs and bacon."

"Right. Rest a bit and I'll have that sent up."

Trinal will take any soiled clothing, bundle it up and go downstairs with it. He asks the barmaid to send up some watered ale and some eggs with bacon to Victae's room- plus coffee and more water.

He'll also ask where he can have some clothing laundered, with a wry smile.

Stavis will pay for his breakfast and sit close enough to converse and hear but still distant enough to seem a separate party. When he sees Tony will make exaggerated motions to signal to him to stay seated where he is, to give any on lookers the impression that Tony is a hired bodyguard.

Once Trinal is back down and Syric is at the table as well I'll say
"I learned some things last night we need to have a private conversation after breakfast, all of us."
Tony will glance at Stavis at the end but make no further acknowledgement of his inclusion in the group.

"Might be simplest to adjourn to Victae's room. She's paying the tax on her fun last night."

Adjourning to Victae's room in shifts to deter assumptions of association you find the group assembled in whole next to a bed with Victae sitting on it poking at some beans and blood sausage with a fork.

"All in all, no regrets." she says addressing the hungover elephant in the room.

"Heh, glad to hear it. Tony had some information he wanted to convey, so we thought it best to come up here."

"Tony Plush calls this meeting of the Phoenix Guard to order. First up, roll call."
Tony pauses for a moment
"What, nothing? Tough crowd this morning. Anyway, there are some goings on the we need to be concerned with, one of which Tony Plush is getting involved in. Namely the baptism that is occurring in a couple days. This event apparently involves a human sacrifice. The person being baptized is a 17 year old Baroness. She is local and it is politically motivated. The human sacrifice they plan to use is a priest of Avandra who is being held in the city fortress. Tony Plush refuses to sit idly by while that happens and has committed himself to the rescue of the priest and it is Tony's hope that you will join him. There is another meeting this afternoon with the locals to plan more once we get more information about where the priest is held in addition to the feelings of the Baroness as well. If she is sympathetic the hope is to rescue them both and get them out of town.

Also that individual Makel works for the local crime Lord Brick. There is no love lost between Brick and the army, but anything he wants us for is sure to profit him first and is likely to be dangerous and that he doesn't want tied directly to himself."

"I assumed this baptism was something we wanted to intervene with and you can count me helping. I would suggest if we are in agreement that not everyone go with Tony and some go to see Brick. I am hesitant to help the man but he could help with the materials we need and pissing him off too early could result in the rescue operation being in jeopardy as retaliation."

"I will work towards getting the materials we need and possibly another mask or too. Going undetected as a Drow has its advantages but not if it make me more memorable with my current jesters mask."

"Present." Victae says deadpan. "....For the roll call. Just tell me where you need me. A crime lord or Tony's friends. I'm not a talker, but I'll play my part." She pauses like she is about to upchuck, but holds it down. "And Stavis if I see another mask of sorts I'll buy it for you."

"Well Tony, I want to say that this is not something we should involve ourselves in. We all know there is a bigger picture we have to look at...but I can't help remembering what the bureau told us before they sent us back, about determining our own goals and priorities, and to follow what we think is right. I know you follow Avandra, so if you feel this is the right thing to do I'm with you."

"The thing is Syric, Tony Plush has thought about this and ultimately by assisting my contacts we strike a blow against the Army of Blood, which is one of the goals. Yes there is a big picture we must be mindful of, but conversely if we do nothing but focus only on our main goal while we may achieve it, what is the cost of doing so? Even if we succeed if we lose every battle along the way will we actually win the war? Tony Plush doesn't think so. Part of this bigger picture here unfortunately is that we have to make sure that the people we are liberating actually support us or all we will be doing is removing one government for another. Preventing this baptism should help on the political front. And preventing the sacrifice of one of the clergy of one of the gods that sent us back can only help us to maintain and restore the order we are working to uphold."

"I have to agree. We have an opportunity here to prevent a great evil and we should take advantage of it. We should also at least find out what Makel wants."
