LPDnD: In Too Waterdeep
"Everyone has seen danger, but have you faced it and not flinched? Have you been in a fight for your life and not frozen? Have you killed someone or something because if you didn't it would surely have killed you? Tony Plush can say with certainty that every other person in this room has done that on numerous occasions because Tony Plush was there when it happened. But what about you Sadie? Tell us of a time when you were in mortal peril and you acted without hesitation and decisively removed the threat. Tony Plush does not want to deprive you of this opportunity but if you aren't ready then the only opportunity this would lead you too is an early appointment with the afterlife and it's highly overrated."
They say when you go on a quest for vengence to dig two graves. They underestimate me.

"I hunted bears with my father. We would track them and kill them for their skins." Sadie says.

Re: LPDnD: In Too Waterdeep
"Nothing personal Sadie, but there is a very large difference in the kinds of dangers men with magic and maces pose versus a bear. I cannot in good judgement allow her to accompany us considering the road ahead. If it were some other adventure, to the dragonkin perhaps, I could say sure. But we are needing to travel along a huge mountain range through two hostile empires, and infiltrate a citadel under siege. That is significantly different than helping your father hunt bears." Victae says.

"I do think there are things you can be a help with Sadie whether you leave with us or possibly join us for other tasks. Though I would be hesitant to bring you with us for this task, there is the possible issue if we are to bring a message by General Watson there is the possibility he may want someone in charge of that parse that he can trust."
When he wees what he believes to be a glimmer of hope of her joining the group he puts up one of his hands to temper it a bit. "I am not promising that would be you but again we are for all intents and purposes a newly formed group with no name to themselves and even the professors word may not be enough."

"Yes I can. Let's have some more wine, enjoy the evening, and in the morning we'll head up to his command. I don't have too much in the way of accommodations, but if you want to crash on a couch I have a few, and the rugs are pretty soft. And I have plenty of blankets." The Professor says.

"If you have something stronger, I'll join you in drink, otherwise I think I'll step out for some fresh air."
Syric is not ready to enjoy the evening and holds his tongue instead of lashing out at the Professor's good intentions.

@Syric
The professor doesn't have anything stronger than wine. You step out onto teh street. It is sunset and you see teh refugees making small fires and clustering around them. The smells of various cooked meats fills the air. The street runs northa nd south. North goes back towards the tavern and temple district. The south goes downhill towards the market.

Syric will go for a walk North, looking for a Temple of Kord or Melora, whichever he sees first, listening to the refugees and their stories of horror weighing down on him as he makes the journey.
"Yes, what an evening to enjoy..." he grumbles.

@Syric you walk along hearing whines, laughs, some scuffles over a piece of meat. The stars are coming out and as you start to recognize some of the late summer constellations coming into view. The streets wind and you find yourself in the temple district. The temple of Melora is the first one you find. You walk into the temple and a priest sees you as you sit down in the pews.
The temple is a marvel of a building. The priests of Melora grew a grove of trees in a manner to create a large building shapped structure with the branches weaving in and out of themselves. The center of the main hall is a moon pond illuminated through a port hole in the roof. The pews are tree trucks grown laterally and rocks unchiseled into shapes.
"How are you doing son?" the priest asks.

"Ah, well that depends. I'm just trying to make sense of the times we live in." said wistfully. "The abominations of nature seem to have run rampant"

@Syric "Ah the war. Well I believe Melora takes the long view. When all is said and done, the grass will grow on the graves of all those foolish enough to try and impose their will. You carry a burden. I can see it on your shoulders, sloping like an invisible mill stone is fastened to your back. Care to perhaps unburden yourself?" the priest asks.

@Syric "You sound full of fire and grit. A passion is like a wildfire. If it gets out of control the whole forest will burn and nature will be required to build from seeds and mites. If you are intending to join the war, be mindful of your surroundings. Know the animals and they will know you. The spirit of Melora is all around us, and you are but a tool. It is the foolish man with his lack of humilty who swims upstream." The Priest says.

Watching Syric depart, Trinal looks slightly sad. "I can understand his feelings, but I'm glad of a chance to take a breath before the next plunge. From our personal perspective it's been about two weeks since the Battle of the Green Sea. We didn't have any rest before that, and even in d-" he cuts short and looks guiltily at the Professor and Sadie, "er, detour, we haven't had a moment's rest. We've been fighting or running for weeks now. A nice relaxing evening would be welcome. Thank you, Professor." Trinal raises a glass to him.

"Well it is always wise to get good sleep when you can, because you never know what the road ahead has. Simple pleasures brighten any day. I wish I could go with you. I've missed and mourned you all so dearly." The Professor's voice trails a bit as he looks into his glass. "I know let me sing you a song. Stavis, you still play I assume? Know Lions of Old Faycrest?"

"I'm sorry, but you're wrong. I am no shepherd, I am a warrior. I will destroy those that are doing the corrupting and clear a path for those that fertilize the pure. Thank you my friend." he says before standing up, "I will remember to take the long view like our Lady" then turns to leave.Blackferne wrote:"I wasn't saying to burn the whole forest. He will look for a temple to Kord where he can stop and give thanks for his purpose before heading back to the professor.

Stavis pulls out his lyre "I do indeed still play, not the best at knowing the names of the songs since my training has never been completely formal."
History Check

Stavis will then play the first few cords to see if what he remembers is correct.

"You got it!" The Professor says enthusiastically.
"Four Lions of Old Faycrest did go on a prowl
The shadows of the night trembled at the growl
The lions stood tall and swiped
The shadows fell in the fight
Kings of the jungle
Strong and Proud
Lions of the kingdoms
Roaring ever so loud
The rains came and darkened the sky
Fate said one of the lions was to die
The Lions stood defiant on the wall
The lions fought but one did fall
The roar of grief did will the air
But the fight was not out of there
Three lions claws sharpened
Fought with bravery heartened
Three lions rules the lands
Their cubs exchanged hands
A pride was formed and peace was found
On the fallen lion in the ground
"

"Very appropriate, Professor. Thank you." Trinal pours another glass and makes sure everyone else who wants one has one also.
"Goodness, this is nice to just... sit, with no pressure to do something right now." He looks pensive. "I will have to pen a letter to my mother. I hope she will forgive me not being there when my father..."

"A word of caution about that Trinal. Your mother has thought you dead for almost seventy years. You haven't aged a day. I don't know if a letter is the best way to say 'I'm back!' You might consider visiting her. The farm she is at isn't that far away, a days travel by horse, though in the wrong direction from the citadel." The Professor says.

"I suppose you are correct, but I don't think we should take that much time right now. That's at least two days gone, even if I did not stay. I think I'll leave things as they are for now, and once this is done, seek her out and explain as best I can."
