While the other talk Syric turns his thoughts inward.

Why should we fight when the gods toy with us like this?

I wanted to clean up the mess we made, but this is too much...

What the fuck do we do now...

As his thoughts swirl and churn inside his throbbing head, he tries to find some clarity. Fuck it, if there ever was a chance at finding my father that chance is long past now. I have to hope that mother is still out there doing what she can to protect nature from these monsters...

He stops at the thoughts of his parents, whom have not entered his mind for some time. That was already my past and I was making a new future for myself, whether it was 70 years ago or now it is still my future to make on my own.

Having pulled the pieces of himself back together a bit his eye stops twitching and his glare softens. Syric will fight for Melora, as his mother surely still does, and he will fight for Kord, if his enemy is now stronger and more numerous then it will just make for a better fight.

"Don't be too harsh on the Professor. If we had done what he did, things would be very different now and probably for the better." Turning to Sadie, he says "Where can we find the Professor?"

(I think trinal was talking about tony's tone about the professor.)

Sadie says "I can take you to his apartment if you like right now."

Trinal blinks and says "Please. I don't think any of us have objections. Victae, why not bring some of these bottles with us and let the Professor join us in our toast?"

He looks around to confirm that no one will object to going to see the Prof right away.

Assuming no objections Victae grabs the bottles and grabs a few more for the road. Sadie leads the party through the streets in the temple district through a wall of refugees on the streets into a different district on the other side of one of the canals in the city.

When she gets you to the building she instructs you to wait in the hallway while she talks to the professor.

"Proffessor G I got some people who want to meet you if you have time." Sadie says.

"Not now. I'm dreadfully busy with my work for General Watson. I'm sorry I just don't have time. " a familiar yet older voice says.

"One of them calls himself Tony Plush, and another is Trinal named after a realtive in the Green Sea battle, and one of them looks a lot like that woman in all those paintings." Sadie says.

"What? Tony Plush? Trinal? And Victae?" He says in disbelief.

"Yeah that's her name. I'll tell them you are busy and maybe we can come bac...."

"No no,let them in let them in!"

You walk through the door and find a three bedroom apartment stuffed with bookcases, scrolls, maps, and several paintings of Victae in dresses and in festivals and what not.

You see the Professor. He has aged, has some wrinkles and grey patches in his hair and his eyes are welling in tears as he reaches out for Victae to hug(he only comes up to her waist).

"I lost you. I'm so sorry. I lost you. I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry." He cries.

Syric looks to the girl who guided them here "We need to speak privately with the Professor but thank you so much for your help Sadie. Right, professor?" Syric finishes as he turns to the Professor, gesturing at Sadie.

"Tony Plush doesn't think we need to dismiss her. She's heard enough already that she probably deserves a few answers. Especially since she appears to be one of the few supporters we may have here. At this point it's probably better that she hears it all from us rather than we let turn her out in the street after she's helped us this far. And with only a bit of information that could do more damage than good at this point."

"Professor! It's wonderful to see you." Trinal moves into the room. "You didn't lose us, Professor. You were the only one who made the smart choice, I think."

Stavis seeing that the Professor trust Sadie and her earlier voicing, gives his approval of her staying by taking off his mask. "Syric your frustration may not be totally uncalled in our lateness in getting back, as it may well have been some of the divine interruption we where warned about." after a short pause and a raising of his shoulders "That or their likely definition of measurable time is different. I know for my people 70 years is by my no means minor but grudges that last a mere generation can still be measured in near centuries."

"Sadie have a seat. All of you in fact. I don't know where to begin or perhaps I should start where the end is and how we got there or, actually how to inquire the nature of the...." The professor is rambling in circles.

Victae takes his hand and smiles to comfort. "If you need some wine, I've developed a bit of a drinking problem in the last hour and have some extra."

The Professor laughs laugh that is joy and emotional choking at the same time.

"Sadie I cannot begin to thank you for bringing them to me. This is the group at Green sea. This is the party that defeated the den of undead, the bha'alists in the quarry, and the goblins in the tower. This is them! Wait this isn't all of them. Where is Gobo, Ham'mon, and Spintik?"The professor says.

"Wait what? They all died. You said that in your book. You buried their bodies. You spent the past seventy years researching all you could about them, there is no way they could be Tony Plush and his Merry Men!" Sadie protests.

"I told you not to use the tavern names for these heroes. The slander the ruffians of the street heap on this lot is unfair and as a matter of historical record in appropriate! The Professor retorts.

"It's all right, Professor. We're not concerned with the epithets used to describe us, although Victae's reaction to the 'merry men' part was at least entertaining." Trinal gives Victae a smile to show he's not being mean.

"As to the other questions- Gobo, Ham'mon and Spintik were for various reasons unable to come back with us. But be assured that they- are well." Trinal looks perplexed at having to deal with verb tenses that don't exist.

"And yes, it is us. I don't think we're really allowed to go into specific details as to exactly how, although one with your knowledge may be able to infer some guesses... but we are who you see before you- a bit wiser, if not much older."

"My only sorrow upon seeing you again is knowing how hard it must have been for you trying to hold back the tide these past seventy years; a tide we could have helped stem had we made a better choice."

Trinal rummages about in his bags for one of the bottles. "If you're going to develop a drinking habit, this is actually not the worst choice you could make to start." He looks around for some glasses.

"Actually I have a weird theory I want to run by you." The professor disappears into the second room which has just as many books as this one.
A few minutes later he comes back reading aloud.

"And Tonius departed with Syrios, Spintikopolous, and Victania to seek counsel from Kryos the soothsayer. They were gone for the day but returned with news of the wicked Minotaur which had been part of the plot turning the brothers against each other." The Professor looked up from the book and pulled his glasses off. "Is this you? Did by gods you appear in the past?"

Trinal has the grace to look embarrassed. "Well, in a manner of speaking, yes. It was never clear to us if our presence was part of reality as we understand it, but that is a description of part of our activities. In fact, I would hazard a guess that Gobo shows up in that history after the rest of us no longer do."

"It came for the Journal of Gobius the Peacemaker. HE was a warrior who apparently helped bring peace to a divided village and in later adventures was cursed to become scaley like a dragon. The description of the curse makes it sound like he was a dragonkin, but they didn't know of that race back then."

"Well you may not be too worried about what they are calling us, but it's Tony Plush's good name that is being besmirched the most. Although Tony Plush believes Miss Victae may be a close second as at last check while she may occasionally be merry, it's quite clear that she is in fact a female.

And yes, we can't really go into the exact details, let's just say that we were on a different plane and spent some time with some beings who don't measure time the same way we do. They said we would be returned shortly after we left, and well, by the way we measure time obviously that did not occur. But we're back now, and it's time we made the difference we originally set out to do so. It appears that the Bha'alists and Orcus have made huge plays while we were gone. What of Vlad and Viggo, do you know anything of them? Tony Plush realizes that it may seem like we are looking for trouble when there is plenty in front of us, but when last we left there were three threats we had to deal with. Now there only seem to be two and Tony Plush wants to make sure that it's not the threat we don't see that finishes us for good."

"About that Tony, I want you to know in my 4 volume series on the events on the Green Sea Battle nowhere is the phrase 'Plush's Folly' written. That was unfortunately the product of tavern rumors that surrounded some of the survivors of Belholt who largely remembered your name and not much of the other details of your party. The rumors spread from tavern to tavern and as the great war has raged on it has taken on a mythos all it's own. I've done the best I can to mend or stall the damage, but one gnome isn't much use against a band of drunken soldiers singing at a tavern." said the Professor.

"Four volumes? My goodness. I'll have to read that when I have a moment," Trinal chuckles.

He looks serious for a moment. "Professor, I'm worried about what became of my mother in Thurwood. My father was human and I cannot imagine he has survived this long but I would like to know how the rest of my family fares. Do you know anything?"

"As for Vlad and Viggo and the Undead Alliance, that has taken a rather curious turn. Sadie if you repeat this beyond this room, you will be tried for treason, is that clear?" The professor asks.

"Yes sir." Sadie says suddenyl realizing she i well beyond her normal life at this point.

"As Bha'al and Orcus's forces grew, the Undead Alliance sought out certain covert elements in the Mortal Alliance to offer assistance. They are no doubt still evil, but their aims about the preservation of this world aligns with ours. They work secretly with us on operations, but obviously it would cause too much of a panic if the layman knew these details. So in the end it looks like neither faction was to their liking."

"Trinal yes. As Sadie has mentioned I've spent the past 70 years doing my best to make amends for my cowardice. Thurwood has been razed, but your mother escaped. I had talked with her before the Army of Blood conquered that land, and she sought me out as a refugee. City life as you might imagine didn't take to her, but I made sure she was assigned to a safer communal farm in Daughnton. We correspond from time to time, but she's doing well last correspondence."

The Professor turns to Syric.
"I never could find your father, but I did rescue his sword from the ruin of Bran's place. It is over the mantle. It took a long while to find your mother. She is on the kitchen staff of the soldier training camp south of town."

He turned to Victae

"I never could bring myself to face your father after losing you, but last word we had was the Citadel still stands despite being under siege for a few years."

Her turns to Stavis
"Your family was not terribly forgiving of how you left. And they would not talk to me but to spit curses my way and send me off."

Turning back to Tony,
"And you are a ghost. I could not find any record of you being born in a parish, I couldn't find anyone who remembered the name Tony Plush before you were 18. I couldn't find your parents, I don't even know where to look. And by now, your parents would be dead, any siblings you have if they survived would be old and feeble."

Syric, connecting the dots, smiles at the mention of Viggo and Vlad working with the mortal alliance, "Maybe our last trip was more than just a test. Maybe all we went through and the 70 years gone was to prevent all three groups from joining together and becoming unstoppable?" he says to no one in particular.

After hearing the Professor mentioning his mother he couldn't help but worry about her.
