Syric and the others head back to the inn, grab a quick bite and a large drink before trying to get a bit of sleep for the night.

When morning comes Syric will see what's available for food while meeting up with the rest and preparing to head back to the EarlyDukeyType guy.
Spoiler:
Within 5 squares of Syric: +1 to Healing surges, +3 Diplomacy, +2 Intimidate, +2 Speed on surprise and 1st regular rounds
Between 6-10 squares of Syric: +1 Diplomacy

Morning comes and the light breaks in through the shutters on your inn room. A splash of water in teh basin to wake up and prepare for the day. You walk down the stairs and find the others of teh party enjoying a morning mess of a meal. Well enjoying maybe a strong word for blood sausage and beans.

"No charge for teh heroes" the inn keep says.

"That's something I don't need to hear twice. Thank you, my good sir", Trinal says with a bow to the innkeeper. He then finds some coffee and some food and does the appropriate things with them.

You give your gratitudes to the innkeep and make your way to the Dukes. Stavis donning his full jester outfit follows. The guards all salute you as you walk in. You are lead into the main hall where the Duke, his wife, and son are on the dais.

"Welcome friends! I said last night to Trinal that I wanted to do what I could to repay you for rescuing my son. Please name it. If it is in my power I shall make it so." The Duke says.

Please make perception checks.

"My Lord Duke, we are honored. Our goal here was and is to thwart the forces of Bha'al. Any reward you see fit to bestow is of course welcome, but is not in any way required." Trinal bows.

OOC- How close is that glowing door? Are we the only ones who can see it?

Trinal you and Spintik seem to be the only people noticing it. The guards standing near it don't even seem to pay it any attention.

ooc- I guess the question is should we just walk toward it? Is the Duke responding to what we've said?

The Duke says "Simply name what you want in your crusade. If gold will help I can give you five thousand coins without a problem. If you wish weapons I can see what my finest smiths can forge. If you want something else, simply name it and I will see what I can do. I just want to show my gratitude in a useful manner."

ooc - you might as well, we don't have time to wait for his smiths to forge weapons. Once you start walking the rest will follow.

Trinal ponders for a moment, then says...

"My lord, I would ask what may seem to be a strange request, but since you have asked our wish, this is it." He smiles.

"I ask that you present to us half of a token. Take a medallion or other object that is distinctive, durable, but of small value. Break it in half and give half to us, keep the other half safe. Pass it to your child, and charge him to pass it to his eldest child, and thenceforth to the eldest child of each generation. The day may come when one appears with the other half of the token, and on that day your descendant, and the holder of the other half of the token, will be bound to give whatever aid or boon is within his power, and within reason to his circumstances. On that day, the debt will be held to be paid in full."

Trinal smiles and bows gracefully. "I swear to your lordship that this is a true request and that I ask it in all seriousness, knowing something of the possibilities of the future. It may come that one of our descendants will be in need of the succor that we today do not need, and your descendant may be able to provide it."

The Duke summons his largest most burly guard who has a huge battle axe.

"Soldier, are you good with that?" The Duke motions to the large axe.

"Aye my leige." The soldier responds with his thick northern accent.

"You reckon you'd be able to split a coin or medallion in one clean blow?"

"As sure as the morning comes too early for lovers." The soldier says with a sly grin.

The duke laughs and pulls his medallion off his neck and removes the chain. He sets this medallion with engravings of some ancient king on the ground.

"There you go, keep the chain loop entact."

The guard steps up and aims the axe before taking a swing and splits the medallion in two cleanly cuting teh engraved picture in half. The hit sends the two fragments a good twenty feet away. The duke gathers them and rechains the loop and tosses it to Trinal and hands the other fragment to his boy.

"Now you remember what these men and woman did for you. You remember this and tell your son. And have his son tell his son of the debt we are incurring today. Maybe we never have to pay on this, but if we do, our name will not be sullied as unable to pay our debts."

Turning to the party.

"Thank you again. Thank you so very much."
