Bodies are stacked. Fire is set. Boats are loaded and shoved out into the water and as you sail back towards the coast by the stars and moon you feel a little tranquil and exhausted.
A few hours pass and you find yourselves back in port. Vlad and Viggo shout the safe words to the Watcher of the Docks.
"We can take him to his father if you wish to head straight to the inn for rest. You can report back in the morning if that pleases you all." Vlad says while Viggo secures a wagon for the boy to ride in.

"Sounds good to me, friend." Trinal looks to see if anyone has objections.
He also nods to the Duke's son. "Be well, young master."

Stavis will nod his agreement. Upon reaching the inn will pay for some food, drink, and a room with 1g to cover a tip.
When morning arrives will slip out in his jesters attire to help spread the good news, of the sons safe return, Mumfords demise, and the many heroic deeds during the fight by those who had brought the justice.

If it is ok, I would like to accompany the Duke's son back to his father.
I hop onto the back of the wagon for the ride.
Any of you guys want to come along. The job is not finished unit the father and son are reunited.

With her nose still swollen a bit, but the bleeding having stopped Victae says "I don't feel like presenting myself to the Duke like this. Please pass on my regards. If he wishes to speak with or see me in the morning I'll be more than happy to attend."
So going to the Duke:
Spintik, Syric
Going to teh Inn:
Stavis, Victae
I'm not sure:
Trinal, Ham'mon, Tony

Trinal somewhat reluctantly indicates he'll go with the party to the Duke. "I'd rather quaff an ale and sleep, but if we're going to see the Duke then I'll go, as the resident diplomatist. Previous shortcomings in that regard notwithstanding", he says with a wink at Viggo. He figures after the fight and the lightning bolt that we should be square by now.

Victae and Ham'mon follow Stavis into the inn, get a meal some ale, then retire in their respective sleeping rooms.
The remainder escort the carriage Viggo is driving with the boy to the Duke's residence. Viggo and Vlad greet each guard by name as they walk past the gates with you in tow. The guards and onlookers say words of praise as they see the boy realzing you have returned him unharmed.
The duke greets you at the door.
"Vlad, Viggo, and esteemed adventurers. I owe you so much for returning my flesh and blood. I owe you a gratitude which I do not even know how to repay. Please regale me with the story of the rescue. Leave no unseemly detail out. And let me know what you wish, and if it is in my power I shall fulfill it." The due says eyes welling up as he leads you to a sitting parlor with a large fire roaring.

Re: LPDnD: We Come From the Land of the Ice and Snow!
"My lord, thank you for your kind words. I will give you the full story as I recall it, Vlad, Viggo and my companions may wish to correct me if I have forgotten anything." Trinal smiles wanly, obviously tired and still having the dirt and sweat of battle on his clothing.
"We began our approach to the island fort hoping to arrive undetected. Unfortunately that was not to be. We were intercepted by two small vessels, manned by raiders. They were smaller than us, but faster and outnumbered us. We were forced to engage one after leading the other into a position where it would have to make a long turn to approach us. The vessel having rammed ours, we boarded her and fought hand to hand. All acquitted themselves bravely and well in this vicious battle."
"Leaving the broken and burning vessel by the means of severing the ramming spear they had rammed into our hull, we immediately made for the fort. The second vessel was behind us by what we felt was a good amount of time. Landing on the island, we quickly dispatched the guards on the quay. At this point, we moved in as a group to the ruined fort, which was really nothing but a shell."
"We interrupted a meal of Mumford's men, and he seemed unsurprised by our arrival. We quickly noted that the young master was tied and suspended above a cauldron on a dais, with Mumford and some musicians. Mumford engaged in the usual bombast and threats, then had his musicians start playing music."
"Forced into fighting his men, we took a few moments to reach the second room and the dais. My good friend Tony was prepared to risk his hide in an attempt to free the young master with a truly heroic maneuver, but thankfully it was not necessary as I was very lucky to be in a position to knock the cauldron askew from my position. Leaving the young master suspended for the nonce, we engaged Mumford- Victae especially bore the brunt of his ire. He was being healed by foul magicks from the musicians and our good friends Spintik, Syric and Stavis managed to silence them relatively quickly, leaving Mumford defenseless."
"He expired quietly and with no dignity, choking on his own blood in the sight of the ruin of his schemes. Sadly, at this point the crew of the second enemy vessel entered and we learned they had killed our entire crew left behind on our vessel. We dispatched them- after giving them ample opportunity to surrender, but they were bent on death. So we gave it to them."
"At this point, Syric released the boy, we inspected the area and found this message- " Trinal shows the Duke the runes and the translation, "then proceeded to burn the bodies and the fortress. We then returned thence and have had the honor to relate this story to your Lordship." Trinal sketches a small bow.

Stavis not Syric released the boy. Next campaign I will NOT allow names of two PCs to start with the same letter.
"I'm so glad you smashed him in the mouth. I seem to remember your party having a few more. Where are they? Did they perish?"

"Our party is accounted for, some are nursing wounds back at the inn. We didn't feel we needed all hands to deliver your son through the streets" said with a grin.

"Indeed. Vlad and Viggo made the very generous offer of letting us rest this evening and return on the morrow to bring you the details, but we decided to make sure you would be able to get any questions you had answered this evening. That said, several of our party were, to put it mildly, exhausted", Trinal offers with a smile.

"Very well, my lord. Thank you." Trinal bows. To Viggo and Vlad he says "Thank you for your help and companionship, we could not have done it without you."
Unless anyone has objections, should we fast forward to the next day?

No objections, I just wanted to verify with my own eyes the boy made it back.

Likewise. We did encounter a Viggo and a Vlad in the future who were very bad persons and we had know idea when the badness started. I was hoping it was not today.Whiteness wrote:No objections, I just wanted to verify with my own eyes the boy made it back.

Tony would have gone with to verify, I have no objection to how the fight was portrayed. We can move on.
