LPDnD: Raging Bull

[Blackferne]

It is late afternoon and the two parties reunite in the main hall of the villa.

Tony, Victae, Spintik, and Syric are armed and armored.
Stavis, Ham'mon, Gobo, and Trinal are not and still in the togas they were wearing before.

The only other person in this room is Kyros.

[Furiel]

"So how'd it go for you guys? Our trip was rather fruitful. Kyros, we know where your mantle is. A minotaur in a labrynth under the mountain has it. Moris gave it to the soothsayer in the hills, she was acting as an intermediary for him and gave it to the creature. Apparently he is working with someone besides the minotaur, but the crone did not know who. So the next step is obviously to gear up and head under the mountain to go get it back. Do you know anything about the Minotaur of Jassim for he is the one with it?"

[Jimer Lins]

"There's more. It seems that Moris is possibly either working with or being manipulated by Teucer. Around the time your mantel was taken he received a message from Teucer."

[Whiteness]

"It's terrible what someone would do to their own family... Kyros, can you provide arms for the rest here and tell us how to get into the labryinth?"

[Blackferne]

"Certainly Syrios."

Kyros leads you to the cellar which also serves as the family armory. You see an array of weapons which would be fitting to an ancient roman or greek movie.

There are Longswords, shortswords, daggers, long spears, arrows, falchions, scimitars, kukris, nets, and tridents. Armor wise they have various hide, leather, cloth, and scale armors all of which resemble ancient greek designs.

"hm." Trinal selects a dagger and a belt to go with it. He looks around for a staff of some type.

[Furiel]

"The question we still haven't answered though is why. Why would Moris do this? Kyros, what would Teucer have to gain with Moris taking your father's spot rather than you?"

[Jimer Lins]

"Influence and control, I'd wager." Trinal says as he pokes around. "But it's an excellent question. What's the nature of the conflict between Teucer and your family?"

[Blackferne]

"Trinacus, try these robes on. They were the Robes of the Philosopher Beppo. And his favorite staff Illuminatus. As to your question, the feud is generations own dating back hundreds of years. The village used to be an outlaws den. But their leader, and ancestor of Teucer named Erastos, envisioned the outlaws becoming a civilized tribe. He invited my ancestor Kleon and his tribe to visit during the festival. They had music, dancing, food, wine, and by all accounts it was a lovely affair. However when the time to leave came upon them, Erastos prevented the young maidens of Kleon's tribe from leaving intending to take them by force if necessary. Kelon's tribe were farmers and shepherds and didn't have the brutality to fight, so they retreated.

A year later after Kleon had hired mercenaries to help liberate their daughters and marched on the outlaws camp, where the village currently stands. But when they arrived outside the camp they found their daughters with babies in their arms, swaddled. By all accounts the outlaws had treated them kindly after the kidnapping, and the women loved their babies, and had grown to love and forgive their husbands. The daughters begged their fathers to not kill their husbands and an uneasy peace was established.

In time Kleon's tribe moved into the camp turning it into this village. The descendants of Kleon's tribe were and have been skilled craftsmen, farmers, artisans, and for all intents and purposes the wealthy people in the village who did not forget, nor truly forgive the kidnapping of their daughters hundreds of years ago. This uneasy peace has evolved from a blood feud, to a political one. The two direct male heirs of Kleon and Erastos are my father and Teucer.

Teucer's political allies petition and campaign to tax the wealthy more and redistribute land, while my father's political allies prefer to maintain the status quo, and feel the concessions of rights and land over the years has been adequate to allow any many to rise above his birth if he has sufficient ambition.

As to what Moris is doing is beyond me."

Trinal: Robe is +2 to AC, Staff is +2 to attacks and damage. The dagger is just a dagger.

"That is quite a history, and certainly gives some context to things, but I still wonder why Moris is doing this- is it for gain or because he wants to unify the factions, or something else? Perhaps Teucer is exerting some influence?"

"We definitely have some unanswered questions, but we need to get that mantle back or we have no proof. We should hurry before anyone finds out about our poking around."

Agreed. Lets go minotaur hunting.

Ham'mon goes and takes a longsword and scabbard. He gives the sword a good practice swing or two, tests the balance, and equips everything.

Ham'mon needs no armor (I actually get bonuses for not wearing armor - unless there's a cloth armor that someone wants to suggest to him).

Stavis will take 4 daggers a belt to have two on each side of his waist and leather armor.

Each dagger has +2 to attack and damage (note you do not get a stacking bonus effective to +4 or +6 or +8). The leather gives +2 for AC.

Kyros mentions a family lyre if you would prefer (+2 dmg and attack).

Stavis will take the lyre. [OOC understood on the daggers but I don't attack with my musical equipment they are used outside of combat unless we are saying it takes the place of a wand.]

The lyre qualifies as an implement like a wand.
