LpDND: Reunions
"In Tony Plush's professional opinion it would be stratgically stupid of them to leave us unmolested though as well. If they bypass us we have a base which we could harass them from and could cut their supply lines with. You don't scout with a force of 200 unless you intend to fight some as well. If they aren't going to try to lay seige then the other likely way to assault us would be for them to attack us with fire arrows, set fire to our fortifications to force us out into the open. If they do that then we have an advantage we can use with our additional range on our bows and we can whittle them down prior to the full engagement.
And while the Professor may believe that they can be bought, Tony Plush does not think that it is worth the risk to attempt to bargain with them. They are out here doing force recon. If we want to keep them from coming back for a time the only way to do that is to either send them back having been soundly defeated or preferably we crush them completely and the barbarian leadership is left to wonder what happened to his men because they just seemed to disappear.
Once the firebreaks are complete we all need to rest because Tony Plush believes tomorrow is going to result in a very long day."
[ooc]this is Tony rethinking his position a bit and advocating for option 1, wait til tomorrow and defend[/ooc]

"Understood, if you will excuse me I will help with the firebreak before resting for what is to come tomorrow." Stavis will then excuse himself and help with the firebreak before meditating for 4 hours.

Re: LpDND: Reunions
Okay assuming you guys are preparing for the worst in a defensive position. You fill barrels with extra water, make a firebreak zoen 20 feet around the fort, and place distance markers for the archers per Spintik's suggestion. You also each get assigned a crew of 4 subordinates.
Each one has 37HP, attack rolls are 1d20+6 vs AC, Dmg is 1d8+2 with longsword, 1d10+2 with longbow with a supply of 30 arrows. Defenses are AC 18, 16 on the rest.
Longbows typically have a range of 20 squares with no penalty, and -2 penalty 21-40 squares. Given you guys are up on a wall I'm extending your range from the fort 25/50. If you shoot from the ground it goes back to 20/40.
The night is eerily quiet and in the distance you see the fires of the far off barbarian camps.
At day break breakfast is served. And in the distance you hear some chants and drums.
A mass is slowly advancing and stops about 300 (60 squares) feet from the fort (outside archery range). What appears to be a leader and two aides ride out from the main group and stop halfway between the barbarians and dismounts. He starts shouting in an incomprehensible language.
The aide quickly starts translating.
"I am To'rassa the younger. Son of To'rassa the Elder who is brother in blood and deed to Ta'rraka the Great, Chulassa of the mortal plane from the Kingdom of Cine to the western sea. From the Deserts of Qualisso to the frozen tundra of Aern Wo. We come in peace to accept your pledges of loyalty of your Chulosso and accept gifts of allegiance. Hear me and come forth to bow to our feet."

Tony looks around at everyone else and says to everyone inside the fort...
"Yeah, that ain't happening. Anyone feel like going out there to politely decline their offer or shall we do so with a hail of arrows?"

"Honestly Stavis, they might. Though it doesn't sound like this guy is the leader of the whole clan, just a general sent to go west. If I followed that right he is the nephew of the chieftan we have heard about." the Professor states.

[ooc]When the combat starts, which I assume it's about to, how viable will it be Joun for Tony to play sniper and take a shot, crouch and hide along the walkway, breaking line of sight and giving me the opportunity it enter stealth, then come up again and take another shot from concealment so I get CA/sneak attack?[/ooc]

Re: LpDND: Reunions
Okay here is the battle map. Google drawing has tables of 20x20. I have used 9 of them to make a giant field.
Each has a place A1 is bottom left corner, C3 is upper right.
A3B3C3
A2B2C2
A1B1C1
The fort is in B1
To'rassa the younger is in B2
The barbarian army is in B3.
Here are the links. I know this is ungodly large, but I wanted to give you guys an epic battle opportunity and well here it is.
A1:
https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1SFm ... sp=sharing
A2:
https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1ORR ... sp=sharing

C2:
https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/13jY ... sp=sharing
C3:
https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/159t ... sp=sharing
If you are moving a marker from one map part to another ctrl C and ctrl V allow you to copy and paste.
If we get to open battle some onetime rules changes. Encounter powers will periodically be reset. So like every 5 rounds I will say "encounters are reset" anything you didn't use in the previous 5 turns is lost, so you can't "save encounters" and then blow like 9 in a row. Dailies will have a much longer "cooldown" of 20 rounds.
Horses have a movement of 10.
In the fort you will notice you guys have 3 S1s and 2 T1s etc. The markers are your squad with 1 being you and the four others being your lackeys. Please call which color you are to start if you share a starting initial. Like T has a green set and a yellow set. Tony is one color (probably green) Trinal is the yellow.
Also the dark blue line across teh bottom of A1,B1,C1 is the stream. The bridge across it to the fort is obviously up atm. And teh light blue area around the fort is the no burn zone made. If we start fighting this thread will be locked, and we will start a new thread.

Pretty easy. Just by being up there you guys get light concealment (+2 to defense essentially). Your movement to crouch goes to total concealment.Furiel wrote:"That certainly lacked flair..."

"To'rassa the younger thinks he misheard you. Through his benevolence he offers you the chance to speak again to show your loyalty to Ta'rakka the Great. He asks you to come out to the field before you and bow at his feet."
