"If this cult has sprung up again recently would be doubtful they would have been able to spread very far and the need to split up would be unlikely. However if they have been in hiding for some time as would be of a slight indication to their willingness to more openly show themselves. Along with the seemingly large quantity would suggest the capabilities of much larger and possibly entrenched group."

"In that regard having a company that could split into two or more groups as the need arises wouldn't be a bad idea, such as we find indicators needing to head to more then one place to track down and stop different splinter groups."

Suggested continuations:

Option 1: Talk to the sheriff about what you did at Heppil's and found regarding the Bha'al Sect.

Option 2: Use streetwise checks to try and learn if anyone knows about the League of Death

Option 3: Talk to the professor when he returns to the tavern to arrange a meeting with the Baron to discuss matters.

Option 4: Use streetwise checks to see what information can be found about the Barbarians of the East.

Option 5: Other.

Note it is evening so some actions may need to wait til morning.

"I would think before we go forth that this matter needs to be brought to the sheriff and subsequently the Baron, as I know I would prefer they be in the loop as I would hate for the law to start branding us outlaws for the death of these and future cult members." Stavis after seeing the letters that Trinal had "Has anything been learned from the letters that might help shed some light on the cult and its potential size."

Syric is thinking back over his past, both the recent past and the past he'd left behind in the forest of his youth. He had started out adventuring because he had nowhere else to go. He picked up the sword of his father and set out trying to find another link to his unknown past, but so far he's only had the smallest whisper of a trail to follow. Now he finds him self with a team of sorts, but he's unsure of his future. It's clear that he is at a turning point in his life and the team is the closest thing he's had to stability in a while. He realizes he does not have the skills of his people so he hopes to try and embrace the life he assumes his father lived, a warrior's life. He will continue to support and protect this team but he does not intend to completely walk away from his elven heritage. Melora still calls for him to hunt aberrant monsters and other abominations of nature while he stands against empire building like that of which this cult sounds like it is intending.

Finally speaking, "I agree with Staris. We need to alert the sheriff to what has been going on at the quarry first and ensure he hears the truth."

"Agreed. We should let the Sheriff and the Baron both know, and then based on their response we can adjust our course."

To Stavis, Trinal says "There was nothing in the letters that specifically referred to numbers, but they do indicate multiple camps and a logistics network, so I would expect that it's at least sizeable."

"Gentleman, and lady," with a nod to Victae "Tony Plush believes we have settled on our next step, which would be to take this information to the sheriff, so Tony Plush suggests we be about that and go fill in the sheriff so he can set something up with the Baron likely for tomorrow. Once we've filled in the sheriff we can discuss amongs ourselves over a pint or three of ale how we want to tackle these challenges.

Mr Truque, it was a pleasure doing business with you."

With a bow and a flourish of his cloak for Brago Tony will head for the door and start making his way to the sheriff's office with hopefully everyone else in tow

"I will excuse myself from seeing the sheriff as I would prefer him not think he has the makings of a mob on his hands and will instead check the streets for any information that can be had there and will meet back up at the Mighty Elk to share what had been learned."

Stavis will collect his pay from the table to his pouch and will hit the streets for two hours see if there is anything to learn from the streets on the League of Death and Barbarians of the East.

Trinal will follow Tony to see the sheriff. Hopefully he'll be well disposed toward me since we did our little walk.

[ooc]I'm actually counting on that and was planning to let Trinal do most of the talking, I mostly did that to get the narrative moving again. I figure once we talk to the sheriff and get his take and what the Baron might think we can have a pow-wow at the Elk and get the metagaming splitting of the party done so we can get back to the story.[/ooc]

I'm going to go ahead and godmode Hammon and Gobo back to the inn. They are checked in and either in their rooms or in the tavern sipping ale(their choice).

@Tony, Trinal, and Victae

You arrive at the sheriffs office and see a man in the cage for the night eating bread and drinking water. Tony may have seen him in stocks earlier when he was about town.

The sheriff sees you three enter and says "Ah this makes for an interesting group. Trinal pleasure to see you again. Mr. Plush. And a new face I see."

"My name is Victae Meneldur sir." Her tone has a certain military rigidness in how she replied. A contrast to the happy go lucky woman you've seen up to this point.

"So what brings you three in here tonight?"

"Greetings, sheriff. We have some information we feel we should share with you, and possibly the Baron as well, regarding the activities of Heppil and his companions." Trinal has a serious look on his face, which is in contrast to his usual mien. "It became clear after our, er... discourse with Heppil, that not only were they stealing iron from Brago, but from a number of others. While not really a source of concern any longer, there is reason to believe that Heppil and his fellows were members of a cult of a dead god called Bha'al, and that they have an agenda that seems to be at odds with a well-ordered province."

Trinal shows the sheriff the letters, and describes their contents. "Mr. Plush and I were both able to verify independently the nature of this cult symbol, and its significance. The letters are clear that they have a large organization, there were several barrels of gunpowder in the mine, and references to both a League of Death and this artifact are sources of concern. From my research, I was able to find that this cult has appeared and been put down a few times in the past, and has in fact tried to kill members of the Baron's own family, some three centuries ago. The relic they refer to may be some type of battlefield device which was used in battle about the same time."

Trinal again looks about. "We're very curious about this and intend to investigate further, but wanted to firstly let you and the Baron know what was happening, and possibly to secure your support. Also, if you have any information about these events, this relic or anything else of interest, we'd be grateful to know it."

@Syric

When you walk back into the Mighty Elk you see the professor doing simple magic tricks (making an egg disappear and reappear) to the amusement of Bran and Bambi. Bran sees you walk in "Welcome back sir. Care for a drink or a meal?"

Trinal looks at the prisoner with a bemused expression. "Something like that. From my admittedly limited research, it seems that he was destroyed by a sword called Godslayer, then his domain taken up by other gods. This cult seems to think they can revive him, based on some prophecies or something like that. Apparently it involves seeking relics like the one mentioned in the letter. Even if they're insane, I'd put forth that a relic like this would be best to keep out of the hands of these people. And this League of Death concerns me also."

When Stavis gets to the inn will sit down at the same table as Syric "Evening Bran, a room for the evening, warm meal, drink for myself, and a round for my friends." Stavis will then put down 2 gold on the table to cover the room, meal, extra drinks, and a small tip.

After noticing Syric's new gear and looking him over comments "I see you have already put some of the earnings to good use."

[OOC corrected to indicate the 2 gold to cover everything]

@Trinal, Spntik, Tony, Victae

Victae glares at spintik for the catcall.

The Sheriff hushes him before turning back to the trio.
"Well interesting you should mention odd goings about. We have a couple, one of which I've been keeping a loose eye on, the other of which I just got word of this morning.

I know Mr. Plush knows Drayson, but to fill you in, he works night investigating issues involving unholy creatures. He would be a good person to start with some of these type questions.

As for the second, I've got a report out by Oak cemetery up off Shay's road of some grave robbing. Now that in and of itself isn't odd. Robbers and thieves often prey on the easy pickings of the dead and risk the Raven Queen's wrath. What is the weird part is that the graves have been dug up, the coffins opened, and the bodies have been removed. I haven't been able to dispatch a deputy to go check it out, but that is something that may be up your alley of inquiry.

As for the Baron, I will advise him in the morning, and come find you if he is interested in a meeting."
