No, not it's not. In fact they would be quite dissimilar in many ways. But still quite possibly annoying to the group and the DM as well.
They say when you go on a quest for vengence to dig two graves. They underestimate me.

Hey if you want Tony to "take one for the team and make sure the gunpowder goes off" (ala ) by all means. Your call.

Nope, no desire to suicide. Just wanting you to know that there are "repercussions" if one of us does get axed in a gunpowder explosion.

Follow proper OSHA safety guidelines in the use and handling of explosive compounds and I don't think it will be an issue.Furiel wrote:Nope, no desire to suicide. Just wanting you to know that there are "repercussions" if one of us does get axed in a gunpowder explosion.

I can see it now. A little man with a candle a match and a large barrel of gun powder. What could possibly go wrong?

Figured I would post it here so we could discuss and vote on the plan.
My main idea was to heat up the furnace pretty hot and place two barrels into the coals which should give us plenty of time to get a safe distance as it would take some time for the coals to burn through the wood.

Or we open the barrels and put a hot coal suspended by some leather or something above the open barrel and by the time it burns through the leather and drops in the barrel we should be well clear.

Re: Would there be interest in a DnD 4e game?
It would be nice if we could close of the mine as well, but obviously we need whatever gunpowder it takes to destroy the forge.
Maybe a simple trail of GP to an open barrel of GP then light and run?

I don't recall what was done with the dwarf bodies, but we could probably get some leather or something from them.Furiel wrote:Or we open the barrels and put a hot coal suspended by some leather or something above the open barrel and by the time it burns through the leather and drops in the barrel we should be well clear.

I would be afraid of it burn though early or unintentionally dropping into the open barrel.Furiel wrote:Or we open the barrels and put a hot coal suspended by some leather or something above the open barrel and by the time it burns through the leather and drops in the barrel we should be well clear.
similar could be use rope possibly ale soaked as a fuse if we don't find any fuses in the warehouse.

we could try and close the mine as I doubt we need all three barrels for the furnace.Whiteness wrote:It would be nice if we could close of the mine as well, but obviously we need whatever gunpowder it takes to destroy the forge.

Re: Would there be interest in a DnD 4e game?
I will offer this tip. Remember this is experimental and still primitive by modern standards gunpowder. So while you might be able to get a huge effect for little powder with modern powder, this is considerably lower grade. As such it is important to remember that in order to have an effective demolition and not just a fireworks show, it is crucial that you have a critical mass of gunpowder ignite in rapid near instantaneous sequence.

How about shooting an flaming arrow at the GP.

None of these guys wanted to be Oliver Queen/Hawkeye/Legolas/Hobbit's Bard/Robin Hood, so no archery kits available.Maizan wrote:How about shooting an flaming arrow at the GP.

Just put the barrels in the forge house and set it on fire, then GTFO.

The best we could do is try and use the crossbow but with the penalty would probably have to be pretty close to be effective and kinda defeat the purpose.Blackferne wrote:None of these guys wanted to be Oliver Queen/Hawkeye/Legolas/Hobbit's Bard/Robin Hood, so no archery kits available.Maizan wrote:How about shooting an flaming arrow at the GP.

I have an idea, but first I need a question answered by Joun.
What is the roof of the forge made out of?

Re: Would there be interest in a DnD 4e game?
Ok, plan B.
We remove all of the coals and everything else from the forge fire and give it a bit to cool.
We dump all of the powder into a big pile in the middle.
Tony, being proficient with a crossbow and having a high dex so he's a good shot, stands WAY back behind some crates or other cover he can shoot over, then he fires a flaming crossbow bolt through the door of the forge, hitting the powder and igniting it. Of course as soon as said bolt is loosed Tony drops flat behind said cover so he doesn't get creamed by said explosion. Everyone else is obviously just back in the trees under cover so they won't get creamed either.
If we don't want to put it in the actual fire area we still do the pile, but do it just in front.
Since the powder is in a big pile realistically it's just a matter of hitting an area, which isn't a hard shot and I think Tony would be like +9 with a crossbow so there is little chance I miss.
Thoughts?

I would want coals removed or water dumped on them to prevent accidental ignition as we dump the powder.
Re: Would there be interest in a DnD 4e game?
But I figured we'd make Syric pour it in, are you sure you want it doused in that case?
Ok, in seriousness I concur with the dousing to unsure no stray spark blows us all to kingdom come. Does anyone have any other ideas for how to improvise some sort of fuse that hasn't been suggested yet?

A piece of rope would do fine. A candle could also work as a delay timer.
