So - I'm not a console gamer. I bought a PS3 in 2007...and while I used it casually, I would probably say I used it more of as a Blu-Ray than a video game system. That said, I've invested in a few fun games. Games I still haven't finished, some sports games, and even invested in the PS Move system, with Move Controllers and the like.
The optics on my PS3 drive have burnt out, a second time. I got it repaired the first time, and now that I'm facing the prospect of paying $100-$150 CDN to fix it, I may as well just buy a new system for that amount.
Or I could just burn the dough and invest in a PS4. That said, I'm basically invalidating my whole game library, PSMove and extra controllers and the like. A game library I could probably get at least a few hundred hours of enjoyment still, beyond having it as a media device.
What would you guys do?

Re: Console Question
I'd replace the drive myself, since it is just an OEM drive without a case.
