Nar Shaddaa Lounge - 1/3/2012 - A Casual Review

Post by Reese » Wed Jan 04, 2012 5:45 pm

First, I love Nar Shaddaa Lounge and wish I could listen to it on my way to work every day. Now on to this weeks episode of Nar Shaddaa & The Funky Bunch. Admittedly I only listened to 45 minutes of the show, so clearly I can review the latest triumph fully (or not).

This weeks Nar Shaddaa Lounge started off somehow, it was probably with music, I wasn't listening yet. It went right into the talky part of the show. At this point, we get to once again hear the voices behind the toons behind the people that we sometimes group with from our guild. Its exhilarating. With this episode I laughed, I cried, I shit someone else's pants.

This week, Nar Shaddaa was graced with the presence of Veela, our local celebu-nerd. She brought some much needed higher pitch to the show (and boobs). In Radio terms I would say Veela is the best Traffic/Weather/News girl the show could have found. Mostly because she is more talented than the rest of the group combined. And proved that by single handedly naming more games and platforms in under a minute than anyone else in a galaxy far, far away could have.

We heard some more music, it was strange thanks to Sir Psycho. There also was an extended Cantina track while I was listening. I am thinking a Star Wars themed radio show has very few themed songs available to them. That's alright, because resident DJ Cyclometh has decent enough taste in non-themed music to through out some other gems (I did not write down their names, they were pretty good, makes the musical interludes between awesome talky parts bearable).

Now, back to our hosts. This week Sir Psycho continues to have the scariest voice me or kittens have ever heard. Seriously, his radio voice makes me think he is coming to human centipede me in the night. It scary and I need a blankie when he talks. Veela's soft tones calmed me down. The conversations turned to the gaming world in general and more specifically Video Games of the Year and well, that's when I got completely lost. I clearly am not the gamer these folks are. I bow to your prowess and skill. It's also clear Dood is not the gamer his co-hosts are, because at this point he stopped talking. But when he did talk it was relevant and spot on (he payed me to say that) with grace and charm (thrown in for free). If only he had any idea what he was talking about. In fact, I continue to profess that he is only funny when he quotes his "friend from chat" during the show. That chat guy is hilarious. Also, the background music was lower this time and so I could actually hear them all, not sure this is for the best.

I have no idea why I wrote this all. It was funnier in my head. The most important part of the show is not the music or the content. It is the conversational smooth jazz of DJ Cyclometh's voice. The man could recite multiplication tables and have me hooked for hours. It is simply amazing. It is like the smoothest butter you have ever put on your finger and had the dog lick off. Just wonderful to have in your ears. My point here is that DJ Cyclometh lives up to his name in every way, the vocal stylings coming through my iPad are like digital meth getting me excited and relaxed at the same time. And leaving me itchy and needing another fix as soon as possible.

I look forward to the next show where they will discuss stuff I don't understand, play some music I won't much care for and leave me terrified for my life (Thanks Sir Psycho) yet relaxed as a ghostbuster sleeping on pieces of the stay-puff corpse (Thanks DJ Cyclometh!).

This is the most convoluted review I have ever read. But having seen Reese play SWSE it is par for the course on his writing.

The review of my review lacks both clarity and the necessary time commitment to fully understand the importance of my statements. Everything you have written here proves that your review is merely an opportunity to besmirch my good name. I thank you to not go around calling into question my writing skills or claiming that any of my statements are convoluted. I mean, seriously, you used only 25 words to describe my review. How could you do anything in 25 words or less. This is the twitter version of a review and its just terrible. :shun:
