Raid nights and times

Post by Furiel » Sun Mar 11, 2012 6:53 am

So we did a survey right around launch on what nights and times were best for people to raid, and I scheduled our raids based of that. Since then we have had some new additions to our raid roster and also lost some who answered the original survey so I'm going to ask again here so we can ensure maximum participation by those interested. Just answer the questions below and we'll get our schedule adjusted from there.

Also going forward I'm probably goign to look at doing this maybe once a quarter as well so as people's schedules may change we can continue to be flexible as well.

For data crunching purposes if there are time restrictions if you could go back and edit those in it would be really helpful.

Weeknight raids will always be scheduled to end at 10:30 CST to accomodate people's work schedules.

Thanks for clarifying, Furi. In that case, my preference would be for any night where Ops times are maximized within my time constraints. (i.e. I'd favor a 3-hour raid on a weekend over a 2-hr on a weeknight).

If that's getting too complicated, then let's just say I'm flexible where it suits the group best.

I will be closing this thread on Friday 3/23 and then over the weekend I will be going over the data and scheduling raid nights starting in April at times based off of the feedback available in this thread. If you do not answer by then your schedule will not be considered.

Phumai
Scoundrel
Sawbones
Heals

I am available every other wed and sat for raids. As of now Arion doesn't have enough 50s for raiding so I won't have a lockout to worry about.

I forgot what to put here.

I've already talked to you about game times, but I think it's something like...
Week 1 - Wed + Sat
Week 2 - Sat
Week 3 - Nothing
Week 4 - Wed

That's as of right now starting on the 25th/26th depending on what day you start your week with. Rinse and repeat until Oct 19th.
Everything is subject to change or being over-ridden by the woman/military.

Ok to tabulate the votes this is what I'm seeing...

Sunday: Dashl, Jounville, Cuspar, Devo, Darklinda, Furiel, Marrkin = 7 votes
Monday: Dashl, Jounville, Jeezbus, Cuspar, Devo, Bulwark, Darklinda, Furiel, Marrkin = 9 votes
Tuesday: Dashl, Jounville, Cuspar, Bulwark, Darklinda, Marrkin = 6 votes
Wednesday: Dashl, Jounville, Cuspar, Devo, Darklinda, Furiel, Marrkin, Phumai, Fovea = 9 votes
Thursday: Dashl, Jounville, Jeezbus, Bulwark, Darklinda, Marrkin = 6 votes
Friday: Dashl, Jounville, Cuspar, Furiel, Dodd, Marrkin = 6 votes
Saturday: Dashl, Jounville, Cuspar, Bulwark, Furiel, Dodd, Marrkin, Phumai, Fovea = 9 votes

So Wednesday wins the popularity contest so we will be keeping that night.
We have a second place tie with Monday and Saturday both garnering 9 votes. With that in mind I want to keep Saturday nights as we can go later that night for progression and new content on that night.

However as I would like to include those who can only raid on monday currently I'm considering throwing some mondays into the rotation, and down the road a bit once we get a few more people with multiple 50s, etc I'm considering adding a third night, which would be monday. This will be easier to do too once we are doing HMs on the weekends.

EDIT: corrected the vote totals. Still considering how to address. Hugs and herpes - Furiel

My mistake that was supposed to go on the Thursday line where you actually voted for but I did not put a vote for you. So that leaves us with a 3 way tie between Mon Wed and Sat. Still going to keep Sat on the schedule as we have more time on the weekend. I'll look more at the mon v wed thing and see what I can figure out.

If people have ideas or preferences for how to break the tie I'm all ears.

Actually, I have to have Bulwark Jr to school at the crack of dawn on Thursdays, so Wednesday night I need to hit the sack early.

Ok, after more consideration today and kinda working it through with some people I have determined that for now we are going to keep our current Wed/Sat rotation. My reasoning for that decision is as follows...

The will of the masses was muddled with a 3 way tie. There is a clear benefit to having a weekend night be one of the raid nights as it allows for longer raids and more time to learn new/harder content so Saturday seemed to be a mortal lock. Leaving Monday and Wednesday to duke it out. I chose Wednesday for the following reasons:

1) it's right after lockouts get cleared, so people should know what lockouts they have and don't have for the week early on and that gives them more chances to PUG raid if they so choose on weekends without accidentally making themselves unavilable for a guild raid

2) it gives us a fallback night to continue content or reschedule if needed. So say a raid gets scrubbed due to lack of signups, a holiday, the server melts, whatever, this gives me a chance to reschedule for monday without worrying about the instance lock not being clear for the following weeks raids and we still get both raids in. It also gives us an opportunity if we feel we are right on the cusp of killing something, of going back on that weeks lockout on monday and skipping right to that boss

And on a personal note, I want it to be clear that I didn't make this decision lightly, or in my own best interest. Because in actuallity it's not. I used to play league volleyball on Wednesday nights up until this winter, and have been itching a bit to go back and play more. Monday nights aren't a league night option where I played so I can't just move my vball night either. So Mon/Sat would benefit me more than the current and decided schedule, however this isn't about me, it's about all of you, and I think this schedule will allow us the most opportunities and flexibility with our schedule for all involved.

If you disagree I am open to discussing it and revisiting my decision, post here, email me, msg me in game, however you want to contact me I'm all ears.

As one of those people consulted I want to point out that reason #2 is really big in way people not full realize yet. As we go on, raids will be getting harder. Either because we will be trying hard modes (or nightmare) or the natural progression of raids will make them more complicated. Part of raiding is learning the dance. Think of Gaarj. He has abilities that we had to learn to figure out when to do what. Every boss will have those things and they take time to learn in a pressure environment. So having a fallback or extension day will make that much easier.
