Forum bug thread

Yesterday Vesp got this:

template->_tpl_load_file(): File ./language/en_us/en_us/email/forum_notify.txt does not exist or is empty

and I got something this morning which indicated my post wasn't made, but it was. If you have a bug with the forum please let me know so I can investigate and see what it would take to fix it.

...see what it would take to fix it.
Nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

LOL, I got this when I made that reply:
General Error
template->_tpl_load_file(): File ./language/en_us/en_us/email/forum_notify.txt does not exist or is empty
Please notify the board administrator or webmaster: admin@thechurchofalvis.com
We may have lost the forum_notify.txt file when we were working on the system yesterday. Conversly, it could have been added by all the wurfl stuff that was unzipped. Check in some of those files for "./language/en_us/en_us/email/forum_notify.txt" You may beed to edit it to point to the right place.

By the way if you post, it seems like the post does go through, you just get the error message which I am trying to figure out what is causing it right now.

Okay I think I have an inelegant solution for now. If as a result something else on the forum seems to be borked let me know.

It looks like search in general is borked as I did a search for admin and I got the following

Well that's not good.

So much for my afternoon of self satisfaction and goofing off.

Argument 15 is in the error message as causing the problem.

Actually I like Lone Star more that Shiner. Probably because it makes a better chaser to my bourbon.

Well if I or Bulwark can't figure that out in a few days what I'll do is take a backup of the forum, nuke from orbit and import posts etc. Hopefully it won't come to that though.

Okay I'm getting word that people cannot register because of php errors.

This is a much bigger problem IMO than the search problem. so i'm gonna take a backup. Nuke the forums and see about rebuilding it.

Okay the restore kept most of the data, the PHP error for register seems to be gone. Search seems to work. Let me see what all we lost settings wise.

I've got this error where when I read the forums I see a lot of posts by someone named "Bulwark". I think we should fix that and get rid of that user. He's out of control.

I'll just change his name to "kitoshi's dad". That work for you?

Okay the last 24 hours I:

Tried to get a mobile theme.
Which wasn't much better than the default.
Which resulted in PHP errors on a multitude of things.
One of which I fixed by some file management.
But it didn't fix it on search or new registers.
So I took a backup of the forum.
And nuked it.
Reinstalled it.
Added the back up.
Locked out the primary admin because his user preference was the mobile them that went away in the nuke.
Had to reinstall that forum theme(since Blackferne as admin couldn't change it on the core user)
Then deleted that theme.

So in summary.
Image

And we no longer have a "mobile theme" so suck it up for now.

I'm on my droid right now and everything looks and works great, who needs a mobile theme?

No because Bulwark Jr isn't a whiny little girl.

On my iPhone (aka Jesus Phone) it looks good.

I have been having issues with the graphics not loading after I do a reply. Once I go have to forum home they reload, but on redirect after submitting a post most of the time the avatars and banner graphic won't load for me.

testing to see if I can recreate furiel's forum problem. (your personal, emotional, financial, sexual, and ego problems are outside of my interest at the moment)
