Header Designs
Kind of what I'm thinking for the forum header, but this would depend on using a fixed-width versus the fluid-width. Sizes can be manipulated as I made them ridiculously large, this is just the prototype stage...
I made these in less than an hour and I'm still not happy with the font look yet, but playing with it more. The Jedi would be the lighter theme, primarily light gray with some greenish and bluish hues. The Sith would be dark gray with reds and orange-brown hues.
Or a taller version...
Thoughts?

Re: Header Designs
That is a good start. Let's kick around a few designs over the next couple weeks and see what we get. The luxury of a game about nine months to a year out allows us to craft a good site.

If we want to keep the fluid-width forums, here's logo versions of each.

we seriously need to photoshop drinks in their hands.

Just screwing around... I'm trying to find a single, large bottle (preferably an odd shape) that I can work with, but I saw this and figured it could be used for propaganda if nothing else

Re: Header Designs
Gimp is free and can do lots of stuff. Most of the site specific stuff on murlocparliament jess did in GIMP (the main banner, the icons etc etc)

Re: Header Designs
I currently use Adobe Master Suite CS3 (it's about $2500 for the full version, $1500 for the upgrade). I've been using both PhotoShop and Premiere since version 5, over the years I've used more apps and the integration is a very strong point for "professional" use.
I've used GIMP and it's quite capable as an editor, free or not. I'd say it's probably 5 years behind Photoshop, but that's still pretty good since nothing else really can compete with it. I personally find GIMP's UI frustrating and some things are just too hard to do compared to PhotoShop, but it's also what I learned to use.

Re: Header Designs
I've been thinking about all these images for a propaganda campaign of some sort.
I'm thinking each class image in a similar Alvian-related theme with various quotes relating to both Star Wars and The Feast of Alvis. The goal is to introduce Alvianism in a way that people not familiar with Sealab 2021 can understand.

Re: Header Designs
The only problem with the one above is that we probably can't use it on their forums, they would probably find ass objectionable.
Just sayin...
Other than that they are AWESOME!!

Re: Header Designs
Put up the thin republic one. I can get one of the others if there is broad support of a particular design, until we finalize on a phpbb 3 theme for the boards.

Re: Header Designs
Can we have them rotate? On my WoW forums and site they banner changes every time you change pages. That way it doesn't get stale.

1. Make an animated gif that rotates periodically on a single load up.
2. Make a flash header.
I could probably figure out 1, I have no idea where to start for 2.

Re: Header Designs
I would suggest using an iPhone for anything and everything involving flash

Re: Header Designs
I like the idea of it loading a new image with every refresh as opposed to a constantly changing banner, personally.
Re: Header Designs
Here is a link to my WoW Guild's website. It's not flash or an animated Gif.

Again, I don't know how these things work. So I could be asking too much.
