The logo was just something I made in MS Paint real quick as a test, but I'm wondering if we want something simple in that style of design, with website component options in the bottom. I'll be installing wordpress soon.

Alternatively we could end up with just the blog as out main page and the forum would be a menu option off the blog.

I think I'd like to see a landing page with graphics and a menu personally. Menu options being Forums, Blog, Links, Guides (if we're going to have them), Guild Policies, Guild Application, Calendar, etc. Keep it fairly simple and make the visitors choose their own destination.

Can you give me example site or sites which have a general set up you'd like to see done?

Okay so I am still screwing with the main page. The current version is obviously a work in progress. What I would like help with (because I am crappy at image making) is some uniform size "buttons" for people to select. The ones I have there are not the only ones I necessarily want, or we should be restricted to. It was more of a test to see if I could do what I was trying to do.

Let's have a uniform button size of 200 pixels by 200 pixels. The button should clearly say what the link is for (ie forums, links, guides, application, blog, rules, jeezbus' bank account)

Also I'm just recycling the header for the forums, so if anyone has a batter background image or a better header or both, I am open to change them.

I made temp buttons off expanded swtor avatars. For some weird reason the color of the words wouldn't be what I selected in MSpaint. I'll try again when I have better image editing tools.

Ok, someone's gotta be using something better than MSPaint to do this... I'll work on something over the weekend.

Hey I was at work, and doing more of a rough rough draft. I have little to no artistic talent so that combined with limited tools at work...you get mspaint buttons.

Give me a few minutes and I'll use the font from the header image (with glowie) and overlay a little bevel and stuff on the images... though I'll have to post them to Photobucket since I don't have my site anymore...

Yeah once on photobucket I'll resave them on our site and change the pics.

Also I'm making template rules and application pages. The wording is by no means final and merely a roughest of drafts. I'm more concerned with site structure and aesthetic over content at this point.

Oh and SirP if you could make a few buttons for links, guides, calendar, and About Us I can plug those in as well.

Are you married to the Avatars as buttons? Enlarging them makes them awfully grainy. I've got the first 4 done with screenshots in a wider format (300x88), but can make them square (or narrower or whatever) depending on how the front page is to be laid out.

I like your buttons a lot better. The long format works well imo. I only used the avatars as placeholders which were a slight improvement on my original placeholder ( a white square saying Placeholder).

Can you make a few more buttons in your long button style? Specifically for Guides, Links, About Us, Calendar like Furiel mentioned as possible webpage parts?

After I finish my excel spreadsheet here at work I'll start plugging in your buttons.

I like the way things are coming together. I think we need more trooper and smuggler representation in the images for each button as there's just way to much glowstick fighting in them for me, but for something being slapped together out of duct tape and paper clips it's shaping up nicely and I'm assuming right now at least that these are placeholder images until we find stuff we like a little better. Although I do really like the big fight panorama shot for the forums link...that just seems fitting.

My ultimate vision though would be to move those buttons out of the middle and put them on the left side of the page in a single column, with the landing page being some awesome Star Wars image, which I tried to convey above and I don't think I did a good enough job describing my vision. But that's just one lizard's opinion...

Okay I get buttons to the left. And I assume a header up top. Maybe I'm just a noob on terminology, but what is a landing page?
