ROTHC launches 4/14 for all - 4/9 for EA

Post by Furiel » Mon Mar 25, 2013 4:19 pm

Sunday launch is interesting. 4/9 for early access is only 5 days, contrary to the week they promised but whatever.

I can't wait for 5 more levels of being in the friendzone with Elara.

I can't wait to be away at Vesp's wedding for virtually all of EA so apparently preordering the expansion for a game I barely play and may be quitting soon seems totally worth it now. :woe:

If you wonder too far Northeast, I know a place where you can stay!

If you ordered early the baby should arrive on time, but if not you'll have to wait the five days before delivery.

Haha too true. I did, in fact, order early. Expecting the bub in the next few days...Murphy's law and all that

Awesome, best wishes to you and the lady doing all the hard work. Is this your first? Remember to scope out the decent eating places in the Hospital.
Edit: wait, I know it's not your first... Second? Third?

This is our third (yup, crazy), so as such I KNOW the hot eateries in the hospital. That is absolutely BRILLIANT advice for any new parent though! The Mrs. is my hero. How anyone could pre-labor for as long as she has (almost 2 weeks now) and not kill the person that put her in that predicament (me) is a Saint!

I took the 15th and 16th off work to spend time with the new content. If anyone is home during normal hours (and the evenings), it'd be awesome to knock some stuff out with y'all.... I plan on being mostly glued to my desk those couple days.

Furiel, I have not forgotten our discussion about that timeframe as well =)

Well the 16th I'm not going to be that available it turns out...I have a therapy appt for myself, a dentist appt for Gabby and an evening with the munchkin, but the 15th is still just picking up the dog from camp and recovering from Vesp's wedding.

Wow, looks like they got the server back online EARLIER than their 6-hour window; about 1AM according to their twitter feed (east coast time). Color me impressed!

Downloading now, first chunk is about 2.2 gigs....

Logged in before work to get started on crew skill leveling and check out the fleet/makeb orbital station (which is not just a barren wasteland, there are vendors, crew skill trainers, mission terminals - nice touch)

Why did I go to work today?

I played a bit today in between meetings and conference calls, and apparently am the first Alvian to ding 51...

My overall impression of the new content is...meh. I'm used to MMOs like WoW pushing the bar with new quest mechanics, etc. but it seemed to be more of the same...go here, kill 8 guys, loot 4 containers...kill the elite, etc. rinse and repeat. The planet itself doesn't seem too special...but maybe I'm not that far in to judge properly.

Seeing Dodd back in a full storyline again, however - that was worth the money. And the Makeb storyline is decent, for sure.

Enjoy!

Though I haven't played it yet, my understanding is that the significant "change" to the questing is the probes and macaronimonocle or whatever. IMO it was dumb to make those things a 53+ mechanic.... but I'm looking forward to tryin it out.

That "in the story" thing is basically my biggest compliment for the game and my biggest grievance. I was talking about it with Jess and I said that for 50 levels you are in a story and then at level cap you feel kinda stuck. Joun has felt in limbo for a long while with a few scenes here or there. I honestly am looking forward to dealing with companions again and having Garza yell at me.
