TL:DR - AICN is reporting the first spinoff movie will be centered on the story of Yoda.

I was personally hoping for a biopic entitled Jek Porkins: STAY ON TARGET. Guess you can't always get what you want. Still cool news though.

I'm going to assume you are being sarcastic Dodd..

Myself I'm hoping for ones about Biggs and/or Wedge.

One about Nei Nub would be cool too.

Dood and I were talking about this yesterday. He is very against anymore backstory movies. I don't want a Yoda origin story. I just want a Yoda story from his prime or slightly after prime.

We both agree a Darth Bane series would be awesome.

Also we are both in favor of Star Wars: One Last Job. A story of a Hutt, a bounty hunter trying to retire, and a smuggler with a heart of something.

I would prefer it be called Chewie's 11

Lando: You said three Casinos...
Han (flips to next blueprint): These feed into the cages at both the Mirage and the Scarlet Twi'lek. (tapping vault) But every Credit ends up here.

Lando: The Seventh Star, Mirage, and... These are Jabba's places.

Han Solo: Yes, they are. Think he'll mind?

Lando: More than somewhat.

Lando: You'd need at least a dozen guys, doing a combination of cons.

Han: Like what, you think?

Lando: Well, off the top of my head, I'd say you're looking at a Boesky, a Figrin Dan, a Sweetpot, two Bothans, and a rabid Genosian. Oh, and the biggest Max Rebo ever. (beat) Where do you think you're gonna get the money to back this?

Sorta.

I may find myself in the minority, but I am of the opinion that a Yoda spinoff - regardless of an origin story or no - could work, with the right script, under the right conditions. I recall how in all the EU literature...especially in RPG materials...Yoda's origin species info was never provided. Lucas was guarding it - I'm guessing for this reason. The other rumor is that Lucas pitched an idea about a Jabba spinoff, but it was shot down. The only way I can see that working is if they brought back a younger Solo, Chewie and Lando. Fans would definitely line up for this.

The loyal fanbase definitely seems to be interested in more Star Wars AND the general consensus is that the prequels were a disappointment, so it is definitely an interesting time to be an SW fan under Disney. The only way I see the hype dying at this point is if a) the JJ Abrams sequels don't live up to the hype or b) They are really good, and Disney gets excited with their successes and start cramming way too much SW down our throats at once and people just get tired of it.

I can't wait for Episode VII: Return of the Lens Flare, and Jar Jar: Secret Orgins.

I'll reserve my judgement till I get more info on what these movies would be about.

Completely agree with you on this one, though it almost feels like they are already starting to count on big success on all fronts this early in development.

Isn't the theory that Yoda is a whill? It would be cool to see the spinoffs essentially be "The Journal of the Whills".
