Interested in a TF2 this upcoming weekend?

Post by Blackferne » Mon Oct 28, 2013 2:49 pm

Is anyone interested in playing TF2 this friday or saturday evening?

It is F2P on steam and we could all descend on a server for some fun and flamethrowing!

You damn right I'm down for it. Saturday would be better for me; Friday is pretty hectic around here.

I might stop by. Maybe. Have the kiddo this coming weekend so I'm not sure what time I'd be on if I do get on at all.

It is more lax than if we were doing a raid, showing up late is better than not showing at all imo.

That time works for me, Joun. We could:

* Take over/join a server that's largely empty.
* Have one of us host a server (never tried that, but maybe it could work).
* Play Mann Vs. Machine (that's actually a hell of a lot of fun, especially if we have six players).

Gonna try to stop by, Family in town makes this weekend unpredictable but I think they're leaving early. Haven't played TF2 in ages!

I am doing something this weekend, but Julie will not tell me what/when/where it is. so I'm 50/50 right now.

I second the vote for Man vs Machine. I think it would work well for our group. Each round is relatively quick, so we don't need to be restricted to a certain map type.

I'll admit I'm somewhat interested but my question is how difficult is it to learn. I'll at least get on vent where I end up playing or not.

It is pretty easy. It is your standard class based FPS. WASD movement, mouse targeting. Each class has a few weapon choices and you can get items to swap out stuff.

Classes:
Scout: Runs faster than anyone, has a double jump to get to higher platforms. Default weapons are a sawed off shotgun, small pistol, baseball bat

Soldier: Runs slightly slower than default. Can do a rocket jump to get to higher platforms. Default weapons are a bazooka, a shotgun, and a shovel iirc.

Heavy: Goes slowest, when using heavy gun is even slower. Default weapons are a heavy machine gun, a shotgun, and fists.

Pyro: goes default speed. Can use flamethrower to push people, mines, and extinguish allies who are on fire. Default weapons: Flamethrower, Shotgun, fire axe.

Demoman: Can use mines to do a special jump to higher platform. Moves at default speed. Default weapons are a grenade launcher, a sticky grenade/mine gun, and a broken bottle.

Medic: Moves at default speed. Naturally regens health. Has a healing meter that charges up as he heals, when it is fully charged can go uber (makes himself and his current healing target invulnerable for a short time). Default weapons: Needle gun, healing gun(allies only), bonesaw

Sniper: Default speed. Highest single shot damage. Default weapons: sniper rifle (with scope), uzi, machete

Spy: Goes default speed. Can go invisible, wear disguises to appear as enemy, and can sabotage enemy engineer constructs. Default weapons: revolver, knife, sapper(apply to enemy buildings), disguise kit

Engineer: Default speed. Can build, upgrade, and repair constructs like dispenser (health and ammo), teleporters, turret guns. Default weapons: Shotgun, pistol, wrench, PDA(has schematics to build constructs)

Game types:
Most common are Capture the Flag, Minecart (push a minecart along a path), Capture/defend points.

I would totally be up for it, but it seems that, unlike you losers, I actually have a life and will be serving our Lord Alvis in a most fitting fashion at a Halloween party.

Would love to come out a kill everything!

But I have been scheduled to go to a house warming that my girl friend doesn't really want to go to. I am thinking about pulling a Sheldon and bringing my gear along sitting in a corner with noise reduction head phones on.

My join party later too.

I'm going to suggest we play Mann Vs Machine, because this week is the yearly Halloween event and just about every server is running the event map, plus it's got a new game mechanic ("spells"), and isn't really going to be much fun for anyone new to the game. But MVM can be easily understood and is fun, plus we can do a lobby group of six and have a server all to ourselves.

I think I can safely say this was a resounding success and we will have to do it again.
